I say this with a deep sense of self loathing. Congress needs more marketing degrees.

Actually this is fine. Go ahead and convince my 62-year-old normie Mom "The Left" is a thing she's already joined. Fine by me.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House. We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication. They own what happens next.

Well at least we tried our worst

I keep seeing this, and it's broadly true, but it DOES matter for whether primary opponents get generated and grassroots organizations mobilize.

*taps the sign*

Heartbreaking, the worst person you know etc. etc.

New Yorkers and DC residents trying to talk with @schumer.senate.gov are having to push notes through a locked door with police posted outside.

👀

Watching the House yell at the Senate and finally feeling represented.

Warnock on whether he’s no on the bill AND cloture, says “If I weren’t a preacher, I’d tell you what kind of ‘no.’”

Folks, The OAH (Organization of American Historians) have created a tracking system called "Records at Risk" where you can go and report this erasure. www.oah.org/2025/03/12/r...

I'm full of breakfast pie and rage and ready to face the day with zero focus whatsoever.

I honestly think at this point House Dems might broadly support an AOC primary against Schumer. Schumer just betrayed the entire House Democratic Caucus, and it would get AOC out of House Leadership's hair.

I think some in the Senate have convinced themselves that the backlash to folding will be limited to “the left” and therefore ignorable. Those people are deeply and profoundly misreading the moment and the stakes. Virtually every swing district House Dem walked the plank to vote NO for a reason.

If I'm a Senate Democrat who spent the last 24 hours getting yelled at and announced I was taking a stand just for my leader to pull this, I don't think that I'd keep that leader.

Just a guy taking a walk.

A quick thread on the sickness of older Dem moderates: During Trump's first term, I grabbed dinner with my mentor and old poli-sci prof at William and Mary. He previously worked for Lee Hamilton, a major Blue Dog moderate Dem, and has garnered respect as an expert on Congress.

Insane

As always, abolish the Senate.

Two Senators from the State of New York, unclear whether there's a spine between them.

Dear Constituent, Thank you for your recent communication. I am actually doing many things! Now, sure, I am not actually doing them myself, and none of them are helpful, and I also won't do what you, the constituent, specifically requested of me, your representative. Vote for me! God Bless America

Who wants to read about another time there was a razor-thin majority in the House of Representatives while the economy was in shambles? history.house.gov/Blog/2025/Ma...

[nods silently from the historian's office]

I will say, my sense on the Hill today is that the CR is going to pass and it's not going to be terribly dramatic or close.

for what

(living in a country where the most successful people are obscenely rich and shameless perverts and psychopaths) Time to teach my children to be honest and study hard in school

Yeah? She resigned to take that post yet?

This is the reaction a sixth grader has to learning what a vaccine is.

What years of "Both Sides" objectivity framing gets you.

Wow, I never imagined the Senate would abolish itself quite this way.

Do I think Senate Democrats will filibuster the House-passed CR/Omnibus funding bill and use their leverage to try to exact concessions? No, I don't think that will happen. Enough Democrats will step up and vote for it, fearing a shutdown.
