I know it's far away and presumptious but is someone working on a Project2029 to fix a lot of this?

I never watched To Catch a Predator but the doc PREDATORS explores the reasons for its popularity and questions its motives and our desire to watch the moment someone's life is upended. Seeing someone's reaction to the raw footage vs the produced episode is telling. #IFFBoston2025 #Movies #Boston

Evidently in China if you suspect a cheating spouse, you don't hire a PI, you hire a MISTRESS DISPELLER to go undercover and breakup the affair. Started quite compelling but then dragged a little. No Q&A and I wonder how the doc makers filmed these intimate conversations. #IFFBoston2025 #Movies

COME SEE ME IN THE GOOD LIGHT is about a lesbian poet couple one of whom, Andrea Gibson, has terminal cancer. It's legit laugh out loud funny and incredibly meaningful. Given the description no one would pick this movie to see and yet I think everyone would enjoy it. #IFFBoston2025 #Movies

The #IFFBoston2025 lineup has arrived! ✨ From April 23-30, we’ll be showing over 90 films, including COME SEE ME IN THE GOOD LIGHT at the Somerville Theatre, PAVEMENTS at the @brattletheatre.bsky.social, and SORRY, BABY at @thecoolidge.bsky.social. Head to iffboston.org for the full lineup!

#IFFBoston2025 starts tonight! I expect to go to 19 screenings in the next week. #Boston #Movies iffboston.org

Here's the evidence ICE submitted in his case: a "gang worksheet" filled out by local cops in 2019 saying: 1) he had on Chicago Bulls gear 2) a confidential information said he was part of an MS-13 clique in a state he'd never lived in. ICE agreed they had nothing else. Read the full context here:

Agreed, and the more we amplify what Booker is doing, the more we make it matter, in public perception and as an example to other elected officials. On the other hand, the more we disparage and tear it down, the more we make it not matter. It's not all up to him.

“If Mr. Trump continues to attempt to usurp the authority of the courts, the battle will be joined, and it will be up to the Supreme Court, Congress and the American people to step forward and say: Enough.” Thank you, Judge Luttig.

Grateful to talk to John Kruzel @reuters.com about the current moment . . . "This cannot be stressed enough - up until this point, we have not, in modern times, had to wonder whether a presidential administration would comply with a court order," said Duke Law professor Marin Levy.

The first and most important thing to know about last night's Exec order is that it's intended to break current law and allow people throughout the federal gov look at yr tax returns. Beyond that it's intended to compel states to turn over all their data to the fed govt.

Volodymyr Zelensky's Oval Office visit ended early when Donald Trump and JD Vance began angrily yelling at him. Here's why women like Kamala Harris and Hillary Clinton are too emotional to be president.

Perfectly executed piece from my colleague @danamilbank.bsky.social, on our owner's edict that WaPo opinions write "every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets." The greatest threat to these pillars is Donald Trump. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

None of us can be sure what will “work.” You try multiple things and find your way in. Read some histories of the Civil Rights Movement by those who participated. They were never “sure” of what would work. Some campaigns fizzled out. But persistence, creativity, determination, and focus were key.

Just read this graf. Share it with people you know who don’t pay attention to politics or news.

There is a belief in MAGAland that the private sector will just fund this stuff. For example, Sean Hannity said that “most of the solutions for cancer are going to be found in the private sector, not with public money.” But thats simply not true.

Trump’s biggest power grab just reached the Supreme Court www.vox.com/scotus/40183...

Trump and Musk are getting even richer from their White House gigs — and ushering in a new age of bribery, graft, and corruption to American politics.

“Are we risking a time when no judge can function without a distorting level of concern for self and family?” An important read from Judge Ponsor. 👇

THIS is how you write about the absurdity of this administration. It’s brilliant prose, full of irony and subtle humor, with a meticulous eye for the farcical details. No other approach could have adequately captured what happened in that room. All who chronicle this era should take note.

We’re witnessing a Brexit-level instance of completely unnecessary economic destruction. A country that’s not hit by any shock, but simply chooses policy self-harm.

OMB director Russ Vought has officially begun carrying out his section of Project 2025. Technical thread to follow, but it’s really important - this is a major path through which the Trump administration will illegally impound funding, refusing to carry out some of our spending laws.

This is all you need to see to understand the disaster of a budget passed by the House GOP last night.

Pulitzer Feeling Increasingly Out Of Place In Washington Post Office

With his order yanking security clearances from Covington & Burling lawyers, President Donald Trump has crossed a line. He is now using the powers of his office, and openly, to punish a law firm for representing one of his adversaries. How will the legal profession respond? My new Cato post.

Interesting thread and a perfect example of details being complicated.

Side note. There are eight members of the joint chiefs. the chair is black. the CNO (navy) is a woman. the other six are white guys. chair and the cno got fired tonight.

The story here is really incredible. The DOGE boys go into an agency and fire half the staff without even knowing what the agency does. Yeah, that is really damn efficient.
