it has elements of a history book, and makes mentions of laws, but reading it without the story makes them mean nothing. reading it without love makes it mean nothing. I keep returning to 1 Corinthians 13. It feels so metanarrative in a way that makes piecemeal, literalist readings seem ridiculous

the more i study the Torah and Bible the more abundantly clear it is that it's meant to be a story. It's not meant to be a history book, or a law book, it's meant to hold truths about God and human nature you have to absorb through the whole thing. And it was written in contexts we've lost over time

it's clearly been eating at me over the past few weeks and i finally made the decision to speak with one of the pastors 1-on-1 about it over coffee, and i am really hoping it'll be a good conversation either way. but my heart would break if it turns out they are stuck in those sort of conventions

though even if the answer is unsavory, I am & will always be grateful to this church for welcoming me in and the kindness they've already extended to me, and the beautiful experience i did have with them. and who knows! they could just be trying to cast a wide net. but the vagueness has bothered me

"A sinusoidal titan, deep in the class-C regime, snakes through the Cutoff sea. It reveals its presence only by occasional cresting arches that break the surface, hinting of a much larger body that twists silently in the land of the dead."

what she says: because these aren't the same value the wave flips over and causes the other thing to go down a bit
what she means: This impedance mismatch causes a portion of the incident pulse to be reflected back with a negative polarity, leading to partial cancellation of the reflected pulse.

unfortunately the textbook purpose of a first lady, as you mentioned.... she's there to make him look good :/ harder working first ladies make for good people, but don't necessarily bolster the president's image

seeing the concept of "memes" in about 20 years go from the realm of the nichest, weirdest internet users to basically the least internet-culture savvy people on earth has been a hellish thing to watch

don't run from dysphoria, from judgement, from pain, but rather chase euphoria. let it guide you to peace. let it guide you home.

being part of the trans umbrella actually taught me so fucking much about how to love myself and also other people; i still feel grateful I am the person I am and got to experience myself and the world like this

i think some of my most self-affirming moments have been on the heels of horrible despair. I said God-given because that's where I'm at rn but this is a secular thing too. this is why you should never give up on your truths, no matter what you have to do to survive. know that you're you, & not alone
