Rida Zouhir has supplanted Craig Ziadie as the last person alphabetically to have played in a game for DC United. #DCU

Good: Pirani, Benteke (even with the missed penalty), Herrera, and of course Murrell. Bad: Schnegg (better second half), Kim, set piece defending. Again it is individual moments that forced DC into this position. It was nice to see that just a little bit of depth allowed them to shift the game #DCU

Hoya Saxa! #dcu

Stroud returns, Peglow not in the 18. Peltola on the bench, Barajas and Zouhir make their first bench appearances. #dcu

D.C. United updates: Rida Zouhir has received his visa and is eligible for matchday squad Saturday at Chicago, per team officials. Jared Stroud and Joao Peglow, wingers who missed the opener, trained with the group and might be available Sat. Awaiting additional updates from Troy Lesesne soon.

Reached out to D.C. United to clarify whether they're using the 3/3 model or 2/4 (as they had previously said). DCU roster complies with both, but #MLS requires picking one. DCU currently running the 3/3 model as MLS announced today. They can change that for the summer window if they see fit.

The Seattle Sounders have announced a new "First Match On Us" initiative. Essentially, it's free tickets to select matches for anyone who hasn't attended a Sounders game before. Seattle say they want to grow the game. This is a great way to do so. Awesome idea 👏👏

Week 1 Defenders who turned the ball over in their own third leading to a goal: Alba, MIA Garces, LAG Schleigel, ORL Oregel, CHI x2 Herrera, DC Wingo, TOR Crepeau, POR Bartlow, HOU Ragen, SEA

Sports betting giant FanDuel and Audi Field, D.C. United' home stadium, have agreed to close the sportsbook located inside the venue. My latest for @wtopnews.bsky.social:

Marc's analysis is so good.

With strong turnouts expected today in Portland and Carson, D.C. United will finish MLS opening weekend with the smallest announced attendance among 15 matches (16,655). Temperature a factor — most cold-weather teams did not have to host — but also sign of weak marketing and low enthusiasm.

Troy Lesesne calls this a "fair result." Possibly dubious over the penalty call, but noted that TFC forced Kim Joon-hong into a few tricky saves in the 2nd half.

1st half thoughts: -Kijima is a menace. -Pirani is lightweight. -All defenders have had shaky moments (Schnegg the most) -will be a surprise if DCU has the legs for 90mins of this.

Hoya saxa! #dcu

Week 1, 2 goalkeepers on the bench. Cash my specific prediction bet! -J

Three keepers in match 1!!!! @rfkrefugees.bsky.social #dcu

Love something as much as DC loves dressing 3 keepers.

It's MLSmas morning! Can't wait to find out what Garber Claus put under the tree and to dig into the honey glazed GAM for MLSmas dinner.

Deal official. Good to see another attacking piece. He tore up USL as a 16 year old. Limited minutes for Chivas thus far. Low risk high reward pick. #DCU

No blockbuster trades. No major signings. One designated player (in uniform anyway). After under-the-radar retool, D.C. United hopes to “prove people wrong.” My preview: www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...

Watched episode 1 of Onside, the new Apple TV show about MLS...hooked!

This is not a trade, this is regular old loan. Not a sporting loan. Like a go to the bank, get your credit run, sign paperwork, make monthly payments, loan. Galaxy must be re-doing their master bathroom.

Some right wing depth for Stroud at least and maybe a bit more if he develops. #DCU

D.C. United Coach Troy Lesesne, on injured winger Jared Stroud (ankle): "It's week by week, maybe day by day, but I would say it's at least a week or two before he comes back."

D.C. United kicks off their season Saturday! New ep of Pitch Pass is a crossover with @soccerwisehq.bsky.social to set the stage. @empiregass.bsky.social and I run down all the offseason storylines before @mattdoyle.bsky.social gives his season prediction. www.buzzsprout.com/8793/episode...

I respect Mackay and Lesesne and recognize the scale of their task. But something's not adding up w/ the Klich and TKDP moves. Colorado's paid $1.25-1.4 mil for TKDP, which is approx on par (barring huge elevator clauses) w/ the combined wages his new U-22 deal will pay over 3 years. Feels low tbqh

D.C. United Coach Troy Lesesne, on club’s decision to trade Ted Ku-DiPietro after upgrading his contract late last season and whether anything changed since then:

A tired @jonhoffman.bsky.social joined @batteredfan.bsky.social on their show last night to preview #DCU 2025. Be warned: he was not a ray of sunshine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=It-I...

@rfkrefugees.bsky.social thought you might be interested in this odd promotion...

🇦🇷🔴 BREAKING: FC Dallas are finalizing a deal to acquire former MLS MVP Lucho Acosta from FC Cincinnati, sources tell GiveMeSport. Fee is around $5m + add-ons. www.givemesport.com/lucho-acosta...

First reported here last week and now official: D.C. United has traded homegrown attacker Ted Ku-DiPietro to Colorado Rapids. Final terms: $1.125 million cash Additional $275,000 if certain performance metrics are met Future sell-on and trade percentage

Per sources, longtime D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid, 34, signs with Miami FC in USL Championship. In 2023-24, ex-US intl played for Memphis 901, Nova FC, Virginia Dream, Maryland Bobcats. In S Florida, he reunites with sister Jasmine Hamid, who is starring for Fort Lauderdale United (USLSL).

“We returned most of the players that just had the best season in club history”. Issa Tall. Agreed. However, the team lost 50+% of goals and 60+% of assists. You can see why fans have questions. #Crew96

New: I got my hands on DC United's 2025 away kit, said to be based on DC's funk, soul & go-go scene. Image and background is 👇, on @theathleticfc.bsky.social: www.nytimes.com/athletic/612...

D.C. United lineup vs Colorado Rapids, friendly in Palm Beach Gardens: Kim; Herrera, Bartlett, Rowles, Schnegg; Enow, trialist, Stroud, Kijima, Pirani, Benteke.

@tombogert.bsky.social says #DCU are looking to sign another attacker, and this move could indicate they have one locked down.

If there's a move in the next month to boost DCU's attack (and we're talking a player better in central areas than anyone from the 2024 squad), this may prove savvy, if unsentimental. If not? Hard to see this as more than another rebuild year.
