Have you ever noticed that the last week of February is abruptly here and that you have exactly two days (evenings after work, really) to read The Vor Game in its entirety? You haven't? Um, me neither...😬

Sticky note praise from a coworker for The Ministry of Time!

Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes. You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment. My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc. www.reddit.com/r/Passports/...

We get a fair amount of I guess you'd call them pitch emails, from people who want to come on the show to promote some (typically irrelevant) thing or other, and almost 100% of them start with "Dear Hugo," and it's like... nobody here is named Hugo, y'all. πŸ˜…

It's time for the Second Anne-ual Quiz Show! Do we know our books? Do we even know ourselves? Find out! hugogirl.libsyn.com/second-anne-...

We loved The Body Scout! And also yes, timely 😬

Bump!

The local bookstore is having a Galentine's party tonight, and the SF shelf has some faves! @vajra.me @rykaaoki.bsky.social

It's very good! Extra recommended for fans of The Dispossessed.

This is a big deal bc the ABA usually is not just nonpartisan, but tries to be mostly apolitical. The rule of law is nonpartisan. β€œWe urge every attorney to join us and insist that our government, a government of the people, follow the law. It is part of the oath we took when we became lawyers.”

Hey, Hugo nominators....how you doing? Did you know the whole Finder series is eligible in Best Series because of Ghostdrift's publication? If you're out of space in Best Novel....just saying. 😎 #HugoAwards

Thank you!!

The line for the parking lot was so long that I got out of the car in the middle of the road while @rudie54.bsky.social (a real one) went to find parking in a nearby neighborhood. Standing room only and the book sold out. A huge success! Grab your copy & note your 2026 Lodestar list: a.co/d/dm4gNz8

Standing room only at the book launch for @annmichelleharris.bsky.social!

This is a beautiful tribute.

If you want to nominate your favorite works -- like, perhaps, your favorite worldbuilding podcast? πŸ˜‰ -- for a 2025 Hugo Award, you have FIFTEEN DAYS left to get yourself a WSFS Membership for Seattle WorldCon! (If you weren't a member of Glasgow last year)

Bonus Episode! My 2024 in Books! Any favorites you read in 2024? https://buff.ly/3DV5EQM

I named my caiman lizard Neil Caiman back before all the shitty stuff came out about Neil Gaiman. I would like to propose we forget Gaiman exists entirely and replace him with my lizard.

I had a great time doing a writing podcast with the always awesome Hugo Girl team. Had fun talking about my journey to publication & the ways the writing community helped me get to this milestone.

Oh hello, here's a Very Special Hugo, Girl! in which we interview @annmichelleharris.bsky.social about her debut novel North, and all things publishing! If you're a new or aspiring writer, you'll definitely want to hear her story. And everybody else will, too! hugogirl.libsyn.com/interview-wi...

Our first snow day since 2017 seemed like a good time to break out our fantasy-inspired cookbook for a hearty soup. This soup was inspired by Naomi Novik's Spinning Silver, and it is delicious!
