It’s more about not contributing to the downfall of humanity. Also I wouldn’t want to be associated with those stupid fucking rayban glasses. I still can’t understand why someone would want that spy-wear on their face.

So sorry for your loss. Posts like these make me steal some snuggles with my boy that I know I will someday need. There are no ugly dogs. Just ugly people.

Working in an all-remote company affords more opportunity to team build in person at off-sites and conferences. These are much more impactful than sitting next to people in cube farms. It’s more how that aspect is managed and executed IMHO. Bad culture isn’t fixed with a water cooler.

Some Buddhists simply feed thier dead to buzzards in a “sky burial”. In this case can’t bury and don’t have any other way to suitably dispose of remains. The process is very unsettling at first, but after a while it makes much more sense than our traditions.

There are no legal requirements on what a coffin or casket should be. It is largely a matter of what the cemetery or crematorium requires. I’ve considered making my own for the hell of it. People rarely get to enjoy thier own coffins. Also a good opportunity to hide some fireworks.

On tomorrow’s episode of coffinflop!

This works, until someone wearing those stupid glasses walks up behind you…

Well considering that I have no idea what she is about to do with the trowel in her hand, it feels like AI.

This could easily be a punchline to a joke that starts with “a mosquito, a tick and a leach walk into a bar…”. Too bad it’s just real news.

What if you’re in an insect farm? What say you then?

Totally. I get it. It’s a progressive disease. But the first thing doctors want to do is jam an insulin needle in your arm. Even if they do it to stabilize you, what hope is there to ever lower your insulin resistance to get off it?

Everyone involved is making dumptrucks of money. Accept, of course, the people they are advertising to.

As a T2 that has managed blood glucose levels for nearly a decade, I have to say this is true for a lot of people. Changing how you eat is key. But you need a dietician, not a chef.
comment in response to post
Not agreeing with his sentiment, but it is kind of incredible how quickly doctors will whip out the prescription pen without really even discussing dietary changes. Many newly diagnosed T2 diabetics can manage blood sugar through diet alone. It’s not easy though.

These guys are completely unwilling to adapt their thinking in a way that counters the “smash and grab” politics of today. Sorry Chuck. Strongly worded letters & NYT Op Ed pieces don’t quite hit like they used to.

You’re correct. The Andrew Tate’s of the world are driving this narrative and the demand, the porn is still reinforcement for this behavior. Reality is a result of your inputs and many young men are being indoctrinated into this in a social media bubble.
comment in response to post
Listening to Andrew Tate and watching basically any porn made now is teaching young men that this is how the world works. Legions of incels have found a home and community on that platform. Mysogeny and toxic masculinity has become an epidemic.

Let me put this clearly. LLMs are the Carlos Mencia of tech.

Unless they were talking about 2 oncologists named “Crystal”, I would politely but firmly say, “I do not do methamphetamines or any sort of biber crank.”

I felt the same way. I’ve always been a bit annoyed that they Hijacked Nicola Tesla’s name. He caught the auto industry flat-footed when he bought Tesla. Then took deposits of thousands on cars that would be delivered years late. Don’t get me started with FSD…

I got a bunch of angry replies and downvotes on a Reddit thread for suggesting that you should tipping for takeout. Apparently there is a special mythical employee that handles all takeout orders and is paid a full living wage. Places that auto-include tips are just ripping you off.

Thank you. I have been saying this since it began. They specifically started targeting any positions that had left leaning employees, like DEI. It continues to purge and defund scientists because they create silly things like “facts” and “evidence”.

What continues to baffle me is how even the slightest criticism toward the Isreali government is immediately called antisemitic.

Ultimately, we humans over-estimate our ability to reason. People can be manipulated to do or beleive almost anything given enough time and dopamine.

The “gift” is simple. He’s a psychopath and a narcissist. All he does is tell angry people that he can fix thier source of anger no matter how ludicrous the lie is. Once people are committed and “bought in”, they defend him like they defend themselves. He never admits he was wrong. Same as a cult.
comment in response to post
Anything/anybody that requires the willful suspension of disbelief(of which religion solidly sits), weaponizes that ignorance. This is where Sagan gets it right with the term “charlatan” rather than exclusively religion. Anyone who claims they can solve problems without proof deserves skepticism.

Well I’m sure he seems moderate to a lot of people in his congressional district. These people have thier own ideas about what is “good” and it is not at all in line with what Christian teachings.
comment in response to post
Funny how he blames Twitter when I’m 100% sure people in his orbit, mainly David Sacks, probably got into his ear far before he bought Twitter. Twitter didn’t radicalize him. He radicalized it. Such a weird copout.

The only way people would make that working for musk is by stock options. That isn’t going to happen these days.

I’m not defending shit. I’m pointing out you aren’t seeing the forest for the trees. Mastadon has a high barrier to entry for casual users. Token Ring is more efficient than Ethernet. Didn’t make a bit of difference.

Gotta disagree. His hair was much more tightly cropped until last year. Then he went full brocco.
comment in response to post
I think you are missing a point a lot of Bluesky users don’t really care about decentralization, they care about user portability and ease of onboarding. Why not put your energy into helping an alternate? The irony of posting this here can’t be missed.
comment in response to post
Apparently “broccoli top” is popular with teenage boys these days. Trying to pull that off as an adult is cringe and makes you look pedo. I’d also say he probably stopped the trend cold.

He might be an insane psychopath, but he definitely knows his name gets him a lot of free passes.

We’re going to see a huge wave of Madrasas,Scientology,Mormon, jewish schools asking for government funding. Remember, not all religious schools are Christian. The establishment clause is one of the stronger pieces of language in the constitution. Some states will just end charter schools.
comment in response to post
It’ll be very difficult for them to endorse Christian school funding and reject the church of Satan or Islam. What this really does is ends public education. This “charter school” seems to be spun up with the intent of bringing this case to the SCOTUS. The “virtual” school was created in 2023.

That’s a reasonable talk track when you manufacture consensus through fear. You can convince a lot of people of a lot of things once they have been disarmed by fear.

You are just begging for a strongly worded letter aren’t you?

This is why he’s so dangerous. He’s a person that has high risk tolerance, also an over-inflated ego. This is great for a software or even a rocket company. Insane for a car company. Tesla disrupted the market, but is losing market share rapidly. He’s basically left TSLA for dead anyway.
comment in response to post
There are tons of things like this with Teslas. For instance, refusing to use lidar for self driving and using cameras has resulted in many deaths that were otherwise preventable if equipped with LiDAR. Even how the lighting is wired lacks basic redundancy in most cars. Garbage from garbage.
comment in response to post
That’s true. Also, not all atheists are smug and militant about it. My own personal understanding of the universe includes no deities. No self. No death. There are only things that manifest when conditions permit. I also admit we know almost nothing about anything. It’s all very freeing.
comment in response to post
I think I understand. There is wisdom out there to navigate life. But it’s not hard for people to hijack that and pretend to be connected to gods. There are no gods. We can learn from eachother and have each other’s back. We are ants on a spinning rock. Thats it. Make it count.
comment in response to post
I think people tend to conflate monotheistic ideology with ideologies that only focus on the human condition. Buddhism and stoicism are pretty similar, but stoics are more about inward things. Buddhists are about ending suffering. Neither requires magical thinking.
comment in response to post
Even though there are many that think Buddhism is that kind of magical thinking, it really is just about a guy that figured his shit out and wanted to share that He was basically a stoic that also understood we just need to be good to each-other. It’s not that hard.

This has got to be one of the most breathtakingly idiotic takes I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Did they elaborate on what these better strategies are? These people are literally dismantling the entire country for anyone to take.
