Before a planet actually forms, the material is lots of smaller chunks of arranged in disk-like shapes around the star. Over time, collosions lead to one cluster of these chunks gaining enough size and gravitational pull to 'clear its orbit' by attracting the rest of the gragments into itself.

this is a news headline, the scientists didn't write it. headlines like this are misquoted or made up or stretched heavily for virtually all scientific studies, when you go to the actual studies they almost never line up.

Yeah it was because there was no room lol, and even poor people had coloured dyed clothes, a lot of plant based dyes are not actually that expensive. Even undyed fabric (which is like a mix of greys, whites, etc. And can be quite vibrant sometimes) is not brown.

Blue was expensive, but a lot of other dyes were not. This misconception about historical clothing really annoys me, people weren't all dressed in dull brown. They had reds, yellows, orange, pink, green, etc.
