Portrait landscapes and blue skies #leicam11

This week I welcomed Jessica Kosmack onto the show for a chat about cameras old and new, and of course, some lovely lenses. www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

This week in the newsletter, well, I think I'm just tired :) www.iainfarrell.com/blog/pwqaefu...

Beautiful winter light on the way to the shops yesterday!

The Highland gales blow a new episode of the podcast your way! This week I'm speaking with Joseph DiGiovanna to hear about some of his favourite lenses and his thirty year timelapse of New York project as it enters it's 10th year! www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

This week in the newsletter, how the lack of access can hold back our photographic literacy. Oh and of course ... notebooks :D www.iainfarrell.com/blog/photogr...

Happy Sunday fellow #photographers! This week on the podcast I'm speaking with Ethan Swope about the wildfires in California, documentary filmmaking and for bonus points we recorded this while he was in the field! www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

I love winter light in Scotland. And 35 is the one true focal length :D

This week in the newsletter I share notes on notes and hang out with a horse 😆 www.iainfarrell.com/blog/short-d...

Happy Sunday to all my #photography friends. This week on the podcast I spoke with Alex Taylor who has made a book of images from an unknown photographer called Alice Longstaff. A great story and episode. You can listen here; www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

This week in the newsletter I talk about no longer being a lazy photographer :) www.iainfarrell.com/blog/q0uhxko...

Incredible winter light and an animal friend

Happy Sunday fellow #photograohers and enjoy my conversation with George Holden about the giant soft box that is the sky above Manchester and his killer Sony setup in 2025. www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

Back in the mountain today. Cairngorm looking beautiful today.

I’m two and a half hours into Persona 5 Strikers and I think Yusuke might be my spirit animal 🤩🫶 #persona I need to go back and play Royal after this.

This week in the newsletter I talked, at length as it turned out, about the power of going back to a place repeatedly for making pictures and share wisdom by way of Monty Python. www.iainfarrell.com/blog/o59wv5v...

Loving my portrait landscapes at the moment. Is that a thing? It might be a thing :D Also, turns out that 90mm and 135mm are surprisingly useful landscape focal lengths. I've still got a lot to learn but it's fun.

Lunchtime walk in the rain with my #Leica M11 and 50mm Summicron. The world looks amazing in the soggy grey light. Sort of loved it.

This week on the @theverge.com they've done a great guide to getting started with exercise with @vicmsong.bsky.social It's great to be reminded that there are no rules! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rjg9...

A friend offered to 3D print me a lens cap for my retro lens from the 90s and look what just came in the post!! 😍 Branded to match the podcast and everything!

Blue skies on Bluesky

This week my guest is @jamestocchio.bsky.social from Casual Photophile. We had a great conversation about motorcycles, videogames, never growing up oh and of course, 3 lenses. #photography www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

This week in the newsletter I start with an apology and then share some work by creators that I really enjoy like James Popsys, Gajan Balan and Daniel Milnor. You can read it here and sign up for updates every Wednesday :) www.iainfarrell.com/blog/parish-...

This week my guest is Gajan Balan. We talk about story telling being his north star, the new Leica SL3-S and 3 very special lenses. It's a great conversation and I hope you all enjoy it. #photography www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

Last week I experimented with a 135mm lens on a local mountain and concluded it was too much reach for a landscape. Tried 90mm today and it’s pretty great.

Treated to an amazing sunrise this morning! Sunset is less spectacular so far but they can’t all be bangers 🤩

This week in the newsletter I talk about trying new things. Had a great time rocking some vintage lenses on my #LeicaM on a mountain in subzero conditions 🥳 www.iainfarrell.com/blog/dyjr5ne...

Sunset 🤩

This week on the podcast I was delighted to welcome Gabrielle Motola. She's a tremendous photographer who thinks very deeply about her work and art more broadly. I really enjoyed this conversation, I hope you do too. www.iainfarrell.com/prime-lenses...

Challenging photography conditions today, -15C when we left the house and spent most of the day up a mountain while the kids went skiing. The #LeicaM11 worked flawlessly. Used the Elmarit 28 and the Tele-Elmar 135. About as tough an ask of me and it as I'm likely to make.

Reminded by @intothecast.bsky.social just how cool the PSP Go is. Can’t wait to hear you get stuck into this back catalogue 🥳

Lunchtime walk before the clouds came #LeicaM11 with an Urth filter and my beloved Zeiss 35 f2/8
