Paganism and History. Trying to spend way less time on social media and much more time in the woods, far better for the soul.

I feel your pain, flu and toothache for the last 10 days, just crawling out the other side of it now. Being cheerful on SM has been very low on my list of priorities 😄

And with my cynical head on labels can make money, so companies will develop a market, stick a label on it, then sell you all the books and equipment you could ever need. When you want something different they've got another label ready made for you and even more books to sell you.

It's part of the reason I simply call myself a pagan, the term is so vague these days that it can mean virtually anything to anyone and that suits me.
Then someone will ask Neo? Classical?... 🤣

I hope you get it off the ground, sounds like it would be an interesting story

SM makes it very easy to just take a little bit of this and a little bit of that without any real understanding of what you are doing, and in most cases it's harmless enough but that's not always going to be the case.
It's not fashionable these days but sometimes rules are there for good reason

One of the few good things about getting older is the fact you care less and less what certain people think of you, it's liberating

For me in the UK with out a doubt it would be one of these 2, I just wish he had written them 20 years earlier. There is so much speculation claimed as fact that it's hard to see where the truth is, what we know and what we don't. This does a good job of cutting through it, in the UK at least.

I understand where you're coming from. They didn't write things down so we have no real idea who, what, or how they worshipped, other than stories written centuries later by monks with their own bias
I accept it, I don't claim what I do is ancient, I just enjoy my interpretation of it

That one is on my list to read, what did you think of it?

Same. I don’t think I have read it or the farrars early books for 20 years or more. I have digitised versions of a lot of them these days and often just search words to see what (if anything) they say about various subjects

Along with the Farrars Doreen was one of the biggest influences on me in my early days. Still love that book.

Between the Squirrels and the Pigeons, the Crows are lucky to get a look in. Though to be fair they just watch where the Squirrels bury them and then go dig them up

Having been a victim of lists myself I agree with you, shady practice. If I have an issue with someone I will call them out on it or block them as an individual.

Sometimes you get added to lists by mistake. On my old account (before I locked myself out of it, don't ask) I found I was being blocked by quite a few people. Turned out I had been added to a rw block list somehow, no idea why, and no way to get off it
I avoid all the block lists now

Wow, that was something special.

Its good to see a footballer like Maddison interviewed who doesn't just give the media trained responses. I don't blame them for doing so as everything they say gets blown out of proportion or taken out of context, but it's still good to see

Our next door neighbour had one and we used to look after him when she went away, he was so sweet, but he also wanted to fight every dog he met no matter how big they were 🤣

I tend to agree with the replies, that for various reasons gods (or whatever you call them) don't/won't/can't intervene in our lives, but that still begs the question why many of us will worship or celebrate them, use their names in rituals, call on them for help etc
Just thinking aloud 😀

That’s one consolation I take from the way we are seemingly heading, we might not be around to see it but nature will benefit from our absence in the long run

I like that.
I think I need to go and sit in a forest for a week or two and get a bit of perspective

True, but we often attempt to nudge them to help us with (on the scale of things) quite trivial stuff too.
I haven't got an answer to my question, I still celebrate nature, and I'm suffering with manflu so please excuse the misery 😆

I see your point, and word of mouth is ideal, but it's possible that they may only have known to recommend your book because of your SM activity on other platforms.

It was in response to a question I asked on FB. I rarely use FB, only to join the odd group or 2

It's a difficult one. I bought one of your books following a recommendation on SM, not sure if I would have picked up on it at all if I wasn't on SM. But if your return isn't worth the investment in time you spend doing SM, then I see why you question doing it at all

100%. Clears the head and lets you get some perspective. I can honestly say that some of my best life moments have happened in the wilds and forests. I guess it's where we're from in the distant past and somewhere deep down it still resonates

It's hard to stay positive sometimes with the state of things, far from sorting things out we seem to be heading in the opposite direction faster than ever
I think I need a walk in the woods 😆

Some people object to things changing, I love it, it keeps everything alive and interesting. I'm forever googling words and topics I read on here but have never heard of.

The Farrars were what got me into witchcraft many years ago, the two books in the Witches Bible were the first two books I bought, love them.

100%. Social Media attracts younger people to this world but unfortunately there are quite a few people waiting to take advantage of them
The occult has always had more than its fair share of frauds and charlatans, it's why I stepped away from it for a decade in the 90's, but it's even worse now
