My apple and I eventually find my beanie underneath my laptop.
With beanie and apple, set off to find coffee cup.
Search studio.
Search office.
Search bedroom.
After 10 minutes, coffee cup is discovered on kitchen counter.
This odyssey took almost half an hour.
At least I can focus on music.

Not familiar with media preservation. Like, on a physical storage unit? What happens when that becomes obsolete? I've got tons of backup CDs that are hard to access these days. π

Why? Bandcamp is the record store, and streaming is radio. It's all part of the business ecosystem, and all elements are important.

It took me years to get used to it. It just sounds so wrong.

Color me surprised since ticket sales have tanked since the pandemic!

They were angry that someone dared to tell them that the words they were using were wrong. It's not my fault that "burner" in English doesn't mean a cool song, rather references a disposable phone, or that "older timer" doesn't mean "classic car", rather an old and out of touch person. π

Apparently, every German word that has been imported to English has essentially retained its original meaning. How am I supposed to make a video now!?

In the spirit of fairness, I decided to make another video, this time about all the German words that have been imported to English and are used incorrectly. Guess how many of them I found?
Zero.

In addition to people telling me to "go back to where I came from" I also got a lot of angry German speakers telling me that English has also imported a lot of German words that have lost their original meaning.

Many will argue that luck is a variable that no one can control, which is partly true, but the more money, connections, skill and perseverance a person has usually translated to more lucky opportunities.

You can find short-term success with more of one or two than the others. Say more skill and less money, but for long-term success, you need to bring these factors into equilibrium as much as possible.

Art is how people articulate the human experience to other humans. It is the language that many use to articulate the feelings they can't articulate themselves. The concern that a machine will replace this deeply HUMAN thing is quite silly, if you ask me. Which you didn't.

I know I'm in the minority here. It's just that half of my tattoos are either stupid or suck, and they're expensive and hurt and won't look good in 20 years so... what's the point? π

I am absolutely NOT the guy to mix metal records. I'm terrible at mixing guitars and live drums. Why do you think I got Sean Beavan to do my last EP!?

Thatβs true. I definitely enjoyed torturing the world with that one. π

It's also my inner misanthrope who can't stand being in large crowds. π

For most people, that's how it is. I'm just wired differently. I get nothing out of it. I'm not trying to yuck anyone's yum, I'm just marinating on the irony of my tastes and my profession.

I respect that for the majority of concertgoers, it's not even about the music, it's about the shared experience. It's like a type of tribal bonding ritual. I totally get it and support it. However, I don't feel that. At all. I get absolutely nothing from it. It's just loud and claustrophobic.

In general I think recorded music is far superior to live music.

I love being a musician and I love music, I just donβt like live music. Itβs too loud and never sounds as good as the records. π

Do you really think empathy makes art better? If so, why?
comment in response to

Interesting article. It doesn't demonstrate that empathy is a requirement of great art, tho. I would argue it's just one path of many.

Well then I invite you to listen to Aesthetic Perfection! I think this one is a pretty good overview of what I do. Hope you dig it!
