This probably doesn't need saying but do these fools who ban books understand that the books are all easily available at the local library and online? This is probably performative but it's meaningless to plug a hole in a dam when the water is going freely around both sides of the dam.

That's a great business idea and it would be fun in the bargain.

Just eat it right out of the box. No one's watching. 😎

Just quit watching ABC & that will be the natural outcome. Ratings will fall, revenue will crater & all those people will be laid off. Virtually all media outlets in the US are on the corporate / billionaire gravy train. No matter how much they pretend otherwise, their decisions are driven by money.

Emerson was brilliant. We are on the planet to make the lives of the people around us better. And that is fundamentally what is wrong with American society at the moment. It's all about me me me. What's in it for me? I'm not going to do it unless there's something in it for me.

To be fair, to be honest, things have gotten worse or much worse. The number of guns per American has shot up by about 50%. And the normalizing of the slaughter of children in schools and people in public places, just marches on.

We have been in a terrible period for at least 10 years and it just seems to get worse. Trump and Covid and other things have brought the worst things out in people. Try not to take it personally and try to scrape the worst people off immediately.

You weren't on your own page, Pinhead. You were on HER page. Just go away & work on yourself. Your stupidity and your lack of self-awareness have left me sad.

If science is involved, that pretty much rules out the MAGAts.

I love bananas & buy them all the time but don't always get to eating them before they turn brown. When they approach the point of no return, I will freeze them & then chop them up into bite-sized bits & throw them in my yogurt etc. I honestly think that they taste better frozen. They're sweeter.

I am reluctant to watch a movie that doesn't get at least an 8 and even then I am disappointed some of the time.

Christmas movies are notoriously bad. Watching them & hoping for better outcomes is a definite fail. Why not use the available review sites to get a readout on a movie before you watch it? The one you just watched gets a 4.5 out of 10 on IMDb which is a dreadful score.

ABC & the rest of the billionaire / corporate owned media has not been worth following for decades. They are showing their true colors now but they have been quizzlings for a very long time. Their interests are utterly different than our interests & they will always come down on the side of theirs.

If their comments were sufficiently obnoxious, you need to report them to Bluesky and let them suspend or delete the account so other people aren't bothered by the poster.

It's up to you but I wouldn't waste time hiding comments. Just block the person and the comment disappears and you never hear from them again. They are not aware that you have blocked them, they just can't see your posts and comment on them going forward.

How is stupid working out for you? Is it everything you hoped it would be? It's HER page and she's allowed to do whatever she likes on HER page. Good grief. The Thought Police on Bluesky.

I love that image. The world will certainly be on fire with the Trumpanzee in charge. The next four years will be disastrous. Dystopian.

She would have been a great choice. Sadly she's a woman in a very, very toxic patriarchal world.

The victim's family will probably also sue the city and/or the transit authority and get compensated with millions of dollars for this guy's unlawful and unnecessary murder.

Millions of people are hungry, homeless and mentally ill without treatment, in the richest country on the planet. And what do Americans do? They reelect the most incompetent person to have ever held public office in the US. The situation will get dramatically worse over the next 4 years.

The justice system isn't Democratic or Republican. It's just a justice system. The problem is the failure of citizens like yourself to insist on a better system for handling people who are not doing well in society. A failure to not elect people who will solve the problems.

You'll live to be 110. The latest studies on coffee are very positive about its ability to keep people sharp mentally way into their old age. A bike is great low impact exercise which will also take you well into old age.

Mangione NEVER leaves prison. Doesn't matter who his lawyer is. He stalked and assassinated his victim, by shooting him in the back with a ghost gun.
comment in response to

This will probably surprise you but the penalty for assaulting people is NOT the death penalty. This will also probably surprise you but what the victim needed was help with his mental illness. He would not have caused all the trouble he did if he had gotten appropriate treatment early on.

Again you're confusing 2 very different things. The quality of the production with its success. Any serious producer of content wants the viewers of that content to think that it's good. They want to get their money back so they can make the next one but they also want to be thought of as competent.
comment in response to
post
You're confusing two issues though. Mediocre content can be extremely popular & successful but it's still mediocre. People & their projects can be complete zeros & the people are still fabulously successful & wealthy. Kim Kardashian is a poster child for that.

I ALWAYS check IMDb ratings before I watch anything. There are thousands of new viewing options each year & it would be impossible for me to know what is good and not good without doing some research. I realize that the ratings can be played with if the subject is controversial. But 2.5 is terrible.
comment in response to
post
Sorry, again, you're making assumptions without data. Someone would have to study the IMDB ratings for a comparable show & the speed which they came in, to prove or disprove what you're saying. I think it's reasonable to assume that many of the people who rated it negatively, just didn't like it.
comment in response to
post
The only way to get the overall rating up is for thousands of people to rate the series positively. And to not have more people rated negatively.
comment in response to
post
How will IMDb know which ratings are fake? It's just a number. I'm not talking about 1,400 written reviews, I'm talking about 1,400 people picking a number from 1 to 10. Their moderators can check the written reviews & get rid of the ones that seem off but that won't adjust the overall rating.
comment in response to
post
And report them. The platform actually has moderators and reporting people who do objectionable things should result in them being suspended or even thrown off the platform.
comment in response to
post
If a small number of people had rated the movie and the rating was 2.5, a case could be made that the rating was manipulated. But not with 1,400 people responding.
comment in response to
post
Why is it obvious that someone is trying to sabotage the series? That would take real work and a proper study. Unless you are able to read people's minds from a distance. The number of people who have rated the movie is too large for the rating to not have very real validity.
comment in response to
post
2.5 out of 10 on IMDb based 1,400 people rating it? Ouch.
