I finished this yesterday; much more of a slog than A Question.. partly in my case because of the relentless parade of minor(?) characters. Many of the party scenes in Proust also like this IIRC and eventually I got used to that. But agree, Nicholas is a bit of a prick.

Must admit I enjoyed The Astrological Diary of God somewhat less, but both still have shelf space in this parish. Quite liked Boxy a Star FWIW and have a vague recollection a friend of my wife’s knew him.

This is very fresh for me too. The admin can be exhausting and I felt my perception of time change considerably, with so much emotion each day. Condolences, and wishing you well.

Astonishingly, I watched this episode today while off with flu and had no idea of the anniversary.

I bought this on spec at the LRB bookshop a couple of years ago. Will get round to actually reading it this year based on this thread

You read much Lansdale before Gray? He is sensationally good.

Having fallen in love with Standard Deviation from last year’s calendar, I can see a copy of this in my near future. Thanks!

I’m always drawn to Flamingo Modern Classics; not sure what exactly it is that I like, but I like.

I have not seen Klaus but as you’re correct with the other three I will give it a go. Honourable mentions to A Charlie Brown Christmas and Rare Exports.
