Oh you didn’t like Annihilation? I loved that. He also secretly directed Dredd which I also loved. I do think he’s a better writer than director. Is he an auteur? No, but I’d rather have A24 and Garland than some huge studio and hack director.

Annihilation had a largish scope and as well as 28 Days Later. I think the tone of the game fits with the tone that Garland usually goes for. Del Toro or Villeneuve would be better and while I love other the other directors you listed I don’t think they would be a good fit. Have you played the game?

I don’t disagree with your assertion but I don’t hate this pairing. The lore and story of the game are obtuse and needlessly vague, kinda like Garland at times. I’m more worried that he will have trouble with the scope and vision of the world. We don’t get enough weird blockbusters. 🤞it’s good.

Great, criminally underrated and underseen show.

Let’s! Nice article. I’ve been super mixed on the Legendary Godzilla stuff but hey it’s still Godzilla.

Adding it to my list. Slight tangent but have you seen the Marvel vs Godzilla comic crossovers that have come out over the last couple of months? Just the right amount of camp and fun. They are all one shots. I’d recommend Godzilla vs Hulk and Godzilla vs X-Men.

My dad showed me this as a kid and the ending blew my mind because I didn’t think you could end a movie like that. I then watched every Hitchcock movie I could get my hands on.
