Wait until they start flying rockets to the moon again. After we're done with WW3, of course. This series will be watched and re-watched like there's no tomorrow.
They are so different in style and scope.
If you want me to try and choose between the two of them...
.
Love them both
Expanse was excellence for hard science sci-fi
Battlestar Galactica was great new age sci-fi
The Expanse wins.
But BSG is quite good.
Expanse, after season 1 never felt like had a moment wasted :)
I do like BSG, a lot. But......

Can be a hard watch right now though...
But I'm biased as I loved the books & felt the show did a great job capturing them.
Annnnnd....I've never seen a single BSG episode & probably should get around to rectifying that.
Both are amazing but BSG (2005) laid the ground work for space operas on a grand scale with more realistic space physics.
Extra points to BSG because they got to finish their story.... but double points to The Expanse because Amos was so perfectly cast.
Now, a very difficult choice concerning the series. They are very different
Not to mention the fantastic source material.

I loved the show. It came out at the perfect time for me (as I was living in halls of residence as a student), and I latched on to it with great enthusiasm... but the ending just... ugh.
However, some bad casting in BSG, and some episodes don't hold up.
I lost interest in The Expanse and thought some of the sets looked a little chintzy. Maybe I'll go back to it.
"Prove it."
It's really encouraging to see so many people pick the show that I'm still planning to watch.
But if you force me to choose: Expanse.
BSG was good, but it's no match The Expanse.
As much as I loved BSG, it didn't age that well. And it came out at a time where prestige television was barely a thing, meaning lots of filler episodes, 24 episodes per season at the expense of writing, improvising plotlines on the fly, etc.
But the lows were also very low.
