In principle, divorced from anything else, I am a huge supporter of the right to die. But in the actual context of the world we live in, the reality of it is that to have the right to die with dignity and not have that be a coerced choice, you first need to have the right to LIVE.

Surely you can understand what is being said here? If someone can no longer afford to live because their support has been taken away, and then someone comes along and offers them an easy death - what does that look like to you? Does that not look at all like a coerced “choice”?

There’s no need to praise him in the first place to recognise this as a significant moment. People get stuck in the weeds about should you shouldn’t you without realising you can just not bother.

Have you ever heard of a thing called “material circumstances”? It tends to have an impact on decision making like that. Do you really think it’s a coincidence that assisted dying is being pushed through at the same time as massive cuts to disabled peoples’ income support.

Frankly I love the lack of any expectation for women to wear ties when wearing a suit, it’s great. Fuck those neck-stranglers.

Oh he’s not apologising to the trans community, in fact he blames the trans community in part for radicalising her by being mean to her on the internet.

I think his self image is probably quite reliant on viewing himself as incredibly “reasonable”. Those types can still view themselves as reasonable when it’s “just asking questions”, but removing legal rights from people leaves an ashen taste in the mouth that doesn’t feel very reasonable anymore.

Ignorance and stubborn uncaring unwillingness to correct that ignorance, plain and simple

Brianna Wu is, but that’s about it.

I wouldn’t say “fully”, there is still work to be done and this was a very restricted and targeted measure that didn’t do anything to change the fact that abortions in the UK past 10 weeks still require the permission and signature of two separate doctors - but it’s a big start.

Correct, it is never too late to transition. But to transition after puberty, you first have to survive puberty. Not everyone does. Being realistic about that isn't what causes that fact.

(seeing a child retreat into themselves until they become a shell of a human being) haha sick dissociation bro

Do you know what one of the worst parts of that whole time was? Every cunt who just tried to *distract* me and throw shitty meaningless platitudes at me to pass the years, instead of taking my pain seriously and recognising that I knew the one thing I actually needed - blockers and hormones.

When I was a trans teen, I wasn't a fucking toddler, I fucking knew that I was hurting. And the length of time that it took to get past all of the hurdles and gatekeeping to access medical care hurt a fucking lot. Nobody had to tell me how to feel for me to be able to recognise that.

Everything you can do to slow down ICE's ethnic cleansing pogrom will save lives. If you make it so it takes 12 goons to do a 6-goon job, you're saving lives. Every minute they spend in location 1 is a minute they can't spend in location 2. Every squad they deploy to your city saves another city.

“Straight people can’t marry the same sex either” was always one of their classic bullshit arguments for keeping same sex marriage illegal. So that would less so be what’s next, and more so be a return to form.

I think in all fairness the newspaper is recognising her as a woman and acting consistently with how it presumably would generally portray a topless woman in their paper.

It’s a bad attitude, I don’t recommend it

The idea that we can "persuade our way out of this" by giving up small bits of trans rights piecemeal just is ahistorical. They tried that already in New Hampshire and look at the anti-trans bills passing now, dems lost a dozen seats, and that's AFTER capitulating!
