An old World in Action feature from 1979 on home education, back when you could still get prosecuted in the UK for not sending your kids to school. www.youtube.com/watc... #homeed

While we're waiting for Spring to really arrive, I thought I'd share some pictures from a brief visit to the Wisley garden in Surrey last November, featuring some beautiful autumn colours. flic.kr/s/aHBqjC4q75

I've seen a chart showing the (approximate) start dates for Ramadan for the next 30 years and it states that "Ramadan will be observed twice in 2030". There'll be a few years when Ramadan will start in December and thus extend into January, but no two whole Ramadans in one year.

Feliz Ramadan.

I wrote this about my youngest. It’s about the way the police, MH services, 111, & A&E have failed my son whilst he’s been very unwell with a violent psychotic episode. I had his permission to write it. Please read/ share about this crisis in care criplife.co.uk/falling-thro...

I heard the Woman's Hour feature on the DJ Tim Westwood earlier and they played a clip of him humiliating one of his colleagues about her "camel toe" on air. I don't see why his show wasn't axed that day. No DJ is so important as to get away with naked sexual harassment.

TERFs getting racist. (Not the first either - a while bunch of them couldn't wait to jump on the Deformist "rape gang" bandwagon a few weeks ago.)

New post at Indigo Jo Blogs -- Vishal, PIE and 80s boarding (response to a blog comment and to two podcasts on child abuse in the 80s): www.blogistan.co.uk/...

Back when I was a student in the 90s, I got into photography (mainly landscape - it was Aberystwyth) and the desirable cameras were the Nikon FM2 and F3, if you didn't want a funky auto-focus camera. I had to make do with hand-me-down or secondhand Pentaxes, though. 1/3

Today I noticed an oil spill on a main road in West London (Yeading area) and it carried on for miles, up to the Northolt roundabout then into London on the A40. People are too careless with fuel. River Wandle clean-up after diesel spill www.bbc.com/news/art... 1/2

New post at Indigo Jo Blogs -- The Drumlanrig jolly (regarding the much trumpeted Muslim/Jewish "reconciliation accords" that don't address support for genocide): www.blogistan.co.uk/...

A couple of weeks ago I went to Winkworth Arboretum in Surrey and found that the visitor Centre was still half finished and hidden behind a hoarding. The contractor had walked away leaving it half finished last year.

Why weren't bin bags removed from this ward after this young woman's death? The answer is that it was too late, and that something else would have been another patient's risk factor. www.bbc.co.uk/news/a...

New post at Indigo Jo Blogs -- Why people are deserting the BBC (on news bias, particularly around the #GazaGenocide, and increasing refusals to pay the licence fee): www.blogistan.co.uk/...

US aid works by the government buying things off its own citizens to give to foreign citizens or governments. Whether it's military or food/medical aid. US arms companies, Big Pharma and farmers big and small are where the money goes. Trump & Musk will learn this soon enough.

Democrats very quick to blame people who didn't vote for them for their candidate losing. It's up to the candidate to persuade the electorate to vote for them. Nobody owes you their vote.

Does anyone recognise this number: 0333 053 7449? I keep getting calls from it; it leaves me hardly any time to pick up, they leave messages saying that they'll call back but not who they are, and when I can back it's silent.

I'm a member of both the National Trust and the Royal Horticultural Society. NT owns more properties and its membership is about 1.5x the cost of the RHS's; the RHS has "partner gardens" which includes both NT and third-party properties.

Just finished listening to the BBC's five-part radio series on PIE, a p**dophile's 'rights' group from the 70s which facilitated its members' abuses of children. Some members were teachers; one was a social work guru whose ideas were all the rage in the 80s. 1/2

Turkmenistan has the so-called "Gates of Hell"; Pennsylvania has Centralia: fires started by human stupidity that never go out. Well, London has Arnold's Field AKA the Rainham Volcano. www.the-londoner.co....

Online media platforms (including YouTube which is why I'm not calling it social media) need to allow better explanations for why we don't want to see specific content. They allow only "already watched" and "don't like it". Those aren't the only reasons. 1/4

New post at Indigo Jo Blogs -- Two disastrous transport projects (now with Labour government approval: Heathrow and East Thames): www.blogistan.co.uk/...

Someone really wrote a piece about what a failure Biden was, even how he alienated young voters, but did not mention Israel, Gaza or Palestine even once. www.slowboring.com/p...
