But.... if AI puts us all out of work, who's going to be able to afford to buy all the stuff they sell?
I don't think they have thought this through properly.

Nah... I reckon that was the Army doing a masterful job of doing what they were ordered to but controlling the optics to make sure it didn't come across as the Great Leader's Glorious Fascist Birthday Parade. The career defence top brass are NOT happy with Trump.

Easy! Just turn off scripts in your browser and you won't have to.

btw - Littleproud is a rural conservative saying that *renewables* have 'lost social licence' which is just not true, and demonstrates how out of touch with the attitudes of the broader population he actually is.

We've never had nuclear power in Australia. We don't have the industry or the expertise and it'd cost squillions of dollars to set it all up. But we do have a solar power industry, and more empty space and sunshine than anywhere else on the planet - it makes no economic sense for us to go nuclear.

🤣🤣🤣 "Nuclear policy was a major sticking point in Tuesday’s decision. Littleproud said his party remained committed to the introduction of nuclear power in Australia, saying renewable energy had lost its social licence and country communities wanted change." (The Guardian)

That frootloop Patel they put in charge of the FBI is a shocker! That 'Plot against the King' kids book - WTF??? His only saving grace is that he seems to be completely disinterested in actually doing the job of running the FBI at all.

Fascinating articles, thank you. What an unholy mess! Maybe all the ex-spooks who left in disgust or got kicked out could get together and do it pro bono publico.
(btw - just turn off scripts to get past The Atlantic's paywall ;)

Oh... I didn't know that. So the CIA is still governed by the rules it was established under? None of the other departments seem to be.
I wonder though, has Trump already given them an exemption to that rule and let them operate in the USA on citizens? It sounds like the kind of thing he'd do...

There's no doubt our election in Australia was a referendum on Trump. Our right-wing party leader tried to do a Trump-lite act to cash in on hype, but we saw what was happening in the USA and said "Nope! Not going there!" I just hope your congress can find the guts to stand up and say the same.

Oh yeah, we're all laughing - it's hilarious that the mighty USA has this deranged clown in charge now. It'd be even funnier if the tangerine man-baby didn't control the world's most powerful military. We're just waiting for him to nuke some 'shithole country' because they dissed his tweets!

If a Human Resources department in a commercial company did such a piss-poor job of vetting the recommended candidate for an executive job - they'd all be sacked. And possibly sued.

You'd think someone would have told him that those 'low productivity' government jobs are responsible for about 12% of the US's GDP, which is more than Manufacturing...

Network States? Like "Mr Lee’s Greater Hong Kong" out of Snow Crash?
Just what we need, nerd-boy fan-fic masquerading as political theory. 🙄

Do you think Trump has ever been inside a modern factory or seen an automated production line?
