I disagree that he should resign because of the CR vote. He did the right thing. But I think it’s time for a new generation to speak for the party. With more voice, they may realize some wisdom. We don’t need more militancy, but we do need more helpful optics.

American Sniper should have won best picture. Top Gun: Maverick should have won best picture. A Star is Born (Gaga, Cooper) should have won best picture.

I always try to retain as much of the author’s original as possible. But I think “least editing” is wrong. When you have to unbury the lead, rearrange passages and eliminate redundancies, there can be a lot of editing needed to make someone’s writing coherent and impactful.

It was stunning to hear Kaitlan Collins on CNN say that the pardon of Hunter Biden gives Trump license to do whatever he wants. Like he isn’t or wouldn’t be doing that already.

I feel the same way, though the NYT has tested my patience over the years. Like in the 2016 election, when every headline that wasn’t about Hillary’s emails started with Trump. Front page, inside, op-ed and sections.

Isn’t it going to be lovely to see his base turn on him when everyone else goes down for what he started except him.
