I have a big ask. My 9yo son is autistic and he’s been raising a betta fish he named Kevin. Yesterday He asked if he could “share a photo of Kevin with the whole world“. I don’t know if this will work, but a dad’s gotta try. Like and share if that’s your thing. Kevin says hi! 🐟👋

Blood stocks are low (O Negative especially needed) so please give blood if you can. I'm going on Friday. www.blood.co.uk

So, let's try doing #duvetknowitschristmas here this evening? People are literally Driving Home For Christmas right now, which MIGHT JUST mean that they'll be sleeping somewhere unusual. 1/

Please share far and wide

You shouldn't be able to complain about a noise that is older than you/predates your presence in area. It should be that simple, your noise complaint should automatically fail if the noise is 'the laundrette that was here when I moved in'.

Good morning and welcome to Tuna Tuesday “To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself.” Be you, always.

Gentle reminder to anyone who needs it: autism isn’t a reason (or even an excuse) for being a predator. If you’re a sex pest, that’s on you.

Hello! It doesn’t cost anything to repost but it helps me spread the word about my small business. My online shop is full of unique Christmas gift ideas. gailmyerscough.co.uk

THREAD: How to check if the screenshot of a social media post is real or fake? Fake screnshots of online posts regularly mislead people. So, here's a simple guide on how you can quickly check if a screenshot of a post attributed to an account is genuine or fake before falling for or sharing it.

This really is wonderful. #AChristmasCarol #Christmas #Dickens

[Twitter thread from 2021…] This year we decided to make our own Christmas tree, so a couple of weeks ago we went for a walk and gathered what we thought might be suitable sticks. We trimmed them to length and arranged them into what seemed like a vaguely Christmas tree-like shape.

every person in charge of a public transit system should be required to use it as their primary transportation

You know what would **really** disrupt the publishing industry? Fair contracts and decent pay for authors. No AI training without the creator’s consent. Artists and translators on the cover. No NDAs for ghostwriters.

I’ve been supporting Lend with Care for a few years. I know many don’t have spare cash but if you’ve £15 you can help a small business with a loan. Repayment times vary but so far I’ve always received the full amount. Thank you .https://lendwithcare.org/referral/FBD8IV

The NHS always needs blood so it's worth checking if you're eligible and give if you can … www.blood.co.uk

I lost this ring in the toilets in Bounce in Farringdon tonight. It’s hardly worth anything, but it’s a ring my dad gave my mum and it’s priceless to me now that he’s not here. It’s gold, with a diagonal band of green stones on it. If you find it can you please get it back to me

In the past day I’ve heard two people who really should know better say they asked ChatGPT for factual info. ChatGPT is not a search engine. It is predictive text based on other people’s stolen writing; its whole job is to make stuff up. Please do not ask it for facts. Tell a friend.

For anyone who hasn't come across the extraordinarily beautiful work of Northumbrian needle felt artist, Simon Brown, aka 'The Gentleman Felter' I defy you not to be amazed! More wondrous creations on his instagram page, here: instagram.com/thegentleman... #felting #textiles #art

Word of the day is ‘hibernacle’ (18th century): a hibernating animal’s winter retreat. I believe it works on a human level too.

Excellent advice. And if you really need something, wait ‘til the Sales.

Perfect soft poached eggs - put two eggs into boiling water, uncracked, for 15 secs. Take out and crack carefully into the water. Boil gently for one minute and turn off the heat. Put in your toast, and when done, serve with the eggs. It is very simple, and it works.

It's the time of year to appreciate the names of Scottish gritters! #Scotland

It's nearly hellebore season. Brace for this kind of thing from me:

This is a bit cool… ☺️ Made in Stirling is a shop I have my art in, full of gorgeous gifts and goodies. They have an online shop too. madeinstirlingstore.com/shop Thank you ArtMag for sharing my work 🤍 artmag.co.uk/magazine/art...

I’m not going to tell anyone how to do Bluesky, but I would like to encourage the following: - Repost stuff you find interesting/entertaining - help others to find the good people to follow - repost small creatives who you like who are trying to plug their work

My watch is bugging me to do some steps and honestly, watch, have you *seen* the weather outside?

My girls, adopted from foster care, arrived with few possessions, apart from a box of books they'd each been given by @Booktrust. These books, read together, became our first shared memories. Spread the joy of reading by donating this Christmas: www.booktrust.org.uk/xmas

One of my inordinately strong views is that the lack of public toilets in this country is a disgrace. Not only, as the superbly named Cornelius McAfee explains, is it a public health failure, but it's a missed opportunity to repurpose beautiful, disused buildings & even create some new architecture!

Farmers deserve to heard, because they do hard, important and not hugely lucrative work far from the amenities many of us enjoy in cities. Yet being heard does not automatically mean being heeded, and rewarding interest groups for how performative and disruptive they can make their anger is unwise.

Had lunch at the Clink in Brixton prison today - superb food, lovely dining area, and great service, all done by the inmates, who get great training which helps them in the labour market upon release. Do spread the word, and give it a try yourself - details here: theclinkcharity.org/restaurants/...

It's beginning to look a lot like... 'image.' This is the reality for screen reader users when alt text isn’t added. By describing your images (especially those snowy snaps!), you ensure that everyone can enjoy and be included.

Now this place is cooking, maybe worth doing a big old energy thread. Let’s talk about how electricity prices are set, why they’re so high in Britain, and how we could reduce them… 🧵

Loving the lights at Peterborough Cathedral tonight ...
