An administrative error does not excuse this affront to due process just because an individual looked a certain way. I was relieved to see NBC4 report that the judge ordered Abrego Garcia be returned to the United States. This should have never happened in the first place. #dueprocessmatters

Yesterday was the worst day for the economy since the COVID-19 pandemic. The candidate who ran on economic prosperity flatlined the US economy, even before his tariffs took effect. I will not sit back as hardworking Americans are permanently affected by Trump's reckless actions.

As Public Sector Task Force Co-Lead, I joined @laborcaucus.bsky.social Chairs in leading a letter signed by all House Democrats to President Trump demanding he reverse his anti-union EO eliminating 1.5M federal workers' collective bargaining rights. We will NOT allow illegal union-busting.

On this day in 1968, the civil rights trailblazer Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Without him, we would not have become a society for all Americans. To preserve MLK's legacy, the Congressional Black Caucus will continue work together to protect DEI. Rest in power, Dr. King.

In 1968 civil rights leader, Martin Luther King, Jr., delivered the Mountaintop speech in Memphis, Tennessee. This is a prime example of strategic and effective oration, the antithesis of what we saw yesterday with President Trump’s speech attacking our allies by imposing unnecessary tariffs.

On this day in 1948, Former President Harry S. Truman signed the Marshall Plan into law, which would support the economies of European countries affected by WWII. That is diplomacy. Yesterday, we saw a President upend the world order to line his billionaire buddies’ pockets. We won’t stand for it.

Last month, I joined my colleagues at a rally outside of NOAA to protest the Trump administration's unlawful agency layoffs. This is why I was appalled to see Senator Banks bullying a federal worker. Instead, why doesn't he join us in telling VP Musk to keep his HANDS OFF our federal government?

Trump's economic depression-triggering tariffs will go into effect on April 9. Stock markets are plummeting as prices are anticipated to skyrocket. The economy promised by Trump is obsolete. It's clear that he only cares about his own wealth, not about the US economy. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

Trump’s firing of thousands of HHS employees is having a direct impact on one of America’s most vulnerable communities- seniors and the disabled. VP Musk & the House GOP are dismantling critical programs like Meals on Wheels and lying to the public. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

President Trump’s “Liberation Day” is the start of his administration’s global trade war that will ultimately lead to higher prices on goods like automobiles. The administration is sending our economy in a dangerous direction. #Tariffs #TradeWars #GlobalEconomy www.npr.org/2025/04/02/n...

The only thing that President Trump and his administration can remain faithful to is violating due process and the law. Mr. Abrego Garcia is entitled to his due process.

This is a reckless move. Public servants at HHS work to improve our public health and undertake critical research.  All these firings undermine years of hard work spent building our public health system and ultimately it will make Americans less healthy. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

It’s been over 17 hours since @booker.senate.gov started speaking on the Senate floor. He’s speaking up for the everyday Americans who are being hurt by President Trump and VP Musk. We must all continue to use the tools at our disposal to stand up to this administration!

On Friday, a judge issued a ruling that halts the Trump admin’s efforts to destroy the CFPB. @housedemocrats.bsky.social continue to fight back against the admin's deliberate efforts to undermine consumer protections against fraud and other abuses. Read more here: www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/u...

Today is #CesarChavezDay. We honor the life and legacy of the civil rights and labor movement activist, Cesar Chavez. As a Vice Chair of the @labor_caucus, it is an immense honor to uphold Cesar’s legacy by continuing the good fight to protect the rights of laborers across the country. 📷: CA.gov

Republicans and President Trump promised that they would lower the cost of living. Yet they have done waged a tariff war that will ultimately harm consumers. President Trump has said he "couldn't care less" if you’re forced to pay more for the next car that you buy. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

While Trump & the GOP try to erase LGBTQ+ people, I'm proud to stand with the trans community and my colleagues in the @equality.house.gov to celebrate #TransDayOfVisibility. The trans community deserves to live free and dignified lives with their rights equally protected under the law.

Trump’s attacks on “DEI” initiatives is an attempt to silence any institution or individual that engage in thoughtful debate about America’s racial history. The Smithsonian Museums are allow the public to learn and take part in these discussions for free. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/a...

The current administration continues to show its obsession with efficiency downsizing. Slashing the Department of Housing and Human Services from 82,000 to 62,000 employees does not accomplish efficiency or make America great again. Shameful. www.npr.org/sections/sho...

Seniors are entitled to their Social Security benefits. Point Blank. I joined @msnbc’s Alex Witt last Sunday, to discuss how I am fighting for you and will oppose any legislation that infringes on Social Security benefits.

This week marks the 15th anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, which 45 million Americans now rely on for health insurance. The current administration continues to threaten the ACA, which is why we will keep stressing its importance. afro.com/affordable-c...

Transparency is essential for many of my constituents that work for the federal agencies that OPM has targeted over the last few months. @democrats-appropriations.house.gov demand transparency, NOW. thehill.com/homenews/hou...

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth must resign.

The collapse of Baltimore’s Key Bridge left an indelible mark on countless lives. We remain thankful for all those who worked countless hours to find the victims and continue to keep the families and friends of those we lost in our prayers. #MarylandStrong apnews.com/article/fran...

I guess President Trump and my House Republican colleagues need a reminder: The judiciary is a co-equal branch of our federal government. These political attacks trivialize the role of the judiciary and the rule of law in this country. And it hurts our democracy. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

Today, I joined my colleagues on a letter to Subcommittee Chair David Joyce to demand he hold an oversight hearing on the U.S. DOGE Service and call on Elon Musk to testify. WE must continue to advocate for our constitutes, transparency, and statutory authority. Read the letter below:

On Equal Pay Day, we remind the world: Women deserve equal pay for equal work. In Prince George’s County women’s earnings are generally higher than men’s compared to the national average. I am proud that my district is promoting women and closing the wage gap. 💪💰 #EqualPayDay

This morning, I met with Bill Nye and constituent advocates to discuss recent budget cuts to NASA and other crucial science programs. It's time to relaunch our country’s love for science and space. Space remains important for prosperity and innovation here on 🌎.

Republicans in Congress want to cut taxes to help billionaires with additional tax breaks. @HouseDemocrats want to help YOU by expanding the Child Tax Credit.

Ensuring that our students have future-ready skills in an ever-changing digital landscape is critical to building their pathway. I enjoyed the opportunity to stop by #MD-04's own Joe's Movement Emporium for their Employer Partner Breakfast to discuss what we are doing for the next generation.

Democrats in the House & the Senate must stand united to counter the catastrophic cuts by the Trump administration. Leader Jeffries & Speaker Emerita Pelosi have it right, we need to use our leverage, negotiate a better budget that helps the American people.

Space is more important than ever, and MD is ready to lead. I joined MSBR to discuss how renewed competition with China and budget challenges require us to build strategic partnerships for the future. Success in space supports our economy, national security, and everyday lives.

Dismantling the Department of Education is yet another disastrous decision by the Trump & Musk administration. Terrible for students. Terrible for families. Terrible for our country.

Yesterday, I hosted a roundtable discussion with community leaders in the health industry to discuss the potential effects of the proposed cuts to Medicaid. We must do our part to have fruitful conversation and address the destructive healthcare decisions from the current administration.

Yesterday, I hosted a townhall with over 800 constituents at Suitland HS in Forestville, MD. I heard their outrage, fears, & the need for Democrats to fight back to protect the American people. So where do we start? We must take the House back and hope that the courts continue to do their part.

Earlier on CNN, I talked about the feedback that I heard from my constituents at our town hall last night. Right now, people across my district AND the country are frustrated that no one has put an end to Trump’s disastrous decisions. I hear you and @housedemocrats.bsky.social hear you.

Last night, I joined @rolandsmartin on his show Unfiltered to discuss the state of our democracy and the power of facing constituents through town halls. Tonight, I’m hosting a town hall for those affected in my district. House Democrats are not afraid of pointing out that these cuts hurt Americans.

Medicaid saves lives. But Republicans are pushing a nearly $1 trillion Medicaid cut that will force millions of Americans off their health care. I am fighting back to save Medicaid and protect Americans. #SaveMedicaid

A little over a week ago, one of my constituents from Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District became a former employee of USAID after 15 years of service. He, like many other federal workers are experiencing unnecessary upheaval. Learn more about his story below.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of female congressional trailblazer Nita Lowey, former chair of the House Appropriations committee & first woman to serve in its seat. Lowey was a champion for women’s rights & health care reform. Rest in Power. 📷: The Office of Congresswoman Nita Lowey

On Friday, I joined my colleagues of the Maryland Delegation to release a statement regarding the future of the FBI headquarters. The new headquarters should be the best site and offer the lowest price and value to taxpayers. Read more on our statement below. ivey.house.gov/media/press-...

Civil Rights movements have a long history of protesting the government through non-violent means. Right now, we are witnessing impacted communities, such as members of AFGE employ these same tactics to stand up to the Trump Administration.

I am saddened to hear that the Trump administration has cut $800 million of federal grant money allocated to Johns Hopkins University. This will not only affect Maryland, but thousands of people worldwide who depend on Johns Hopkins’s research as one of the highest-accredited medical institutions.

Next week, Tuesday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. my office will be hosting an in-person town hall at Suitland High School Auditorium (5200 Silver Hill Road, Forestville, MD 20747). Join us to discuss the latest updates on Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District. RSVP here: tinyurl.com/repiveytownhall

The budget plan proposed by House Republicans does not serve working class Americans. In Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District, this plan impacts families with children, and our most vulnerable populations, including seniors, who rely on Medicaid. View the snapshot below for more.

This is a great development and a win for democracy. We will not stop fighting to protect our federal workers against the illegal actions of Trump and unelected billionaires. www.wusa9.com/article/news...

It is crucial to the future of the American people that the upcoming spending agreement is bipartisan. Congress must continue to work together on a bipartisan bill to protect programs critical to our communities across the country. Read my statement below. ⬇️

My district is home to thousands of federal employees, who have been affected by the illegal cuts that the Trump administration has made to the federal workforce. I will continue to advocate for federal workers’ rights. This is why we have to #pushback.

The House Republican budget is an absolute rip-off on MD-04. This budget is a direct attack on the American people and my district. House Democrats urge the Senate to block this budget from being passed. Read more below ⬇️
