The British Medical Association has come out and called the transphobic ruling of the Supreme Court “scientifically illiterate”.

Survivorship bias means AI models have evolved to be very good at appearing correct to the kind of people who work on AI models (dipshits & grifters)

The answer, as it has always been for at least the last fifty years, is that the Labour party exist to be bedblockers, taking up the space where a progressive party could be, and vehemently opposing any constitutional changes that might create a space for an actual alternative.

I reckon Google could probably quietly change it back to the Gulf of Mexico now.

“Talking with the vice president helped the cardinal better understand the Book of Job,” said a Vatican spokesperson, who added that the Book of Job itself was not discussed.

Kidlit colleagues, just a reminder that JK Rowling *funded* this challenge over the definition of women at the Supreme Court. Every time you choose to work with her, platform her, take a stance that aligns with her, buy her books, nominate her for more awards, she uses that and funds hate.

In the YouGov data for most popular British TV shows, there is only one drama in the top 20. There are 12 comedies. Someone has got to sort out funding more comedy, because we really like it.

I’m late to the #BrokenVeil party, but so far it’s a hearty “strongly recommend”. They balance the tales of unusual phenomena with a healthy degree of skeptical commentary, and the sound design/ incidental music really brings the moments of otherworldly unease to prominence.

Loving Chisola’s business cape, though. #BBCApprentice

They’re probably my next vote (or Greens). I simply cannot give a vote to Labour after what’s been happening so far in their term. Even tactically. They’re chasing the Reform vote that they’re never going to get, confident that FPTP will save them when it comes to the ballot.

Ah the annual car servicing hustle. Who knows if those parts NEED to be replaced? And if that’s a reasonable cost? Certainly not me. And the garage people know that.

Handy-Dandy Neurodivergence Chart

I haven’t been able to donate blood for about 10 years (various reasons, currently I’m too ill because of long COVID), but I just got an email asking if I could because they’re anticipating a big shortage over the next two months. If you’re UK-based and able, please check it out. www.blood.co.uk

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge. As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do. They can't keep spewing carbon. They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying. They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.

I’ve skipped over most promotional emails today, but I did enjoy this from @krotos.bsky.social (Even better - onlyfootsteps.io links to their actual footstep generator site)

Microsoft are just going all-in on making sure nobody wants to use Edge, huh?

as a reader, I am kinda lukewarm on THG series. As a professional, I am in awe of this woman. Just keeps her head down and keeps grinding, doesn't get involved in anything that isn't saying what she wants to through the work. career goals.

I would potentially have a lot more time for headlines like this if there was any other way for many people to recognise that they are neurodivergent and start taking steps to actually improve their lives. As there aren't, as there is little support even when diagnosed, I have zero time for them.

“cut for those judged as unfit for work (as incentive to seek work)” This is literally gibberish. Can you even hear yourselves?

in slightly-early honour of St Patricks Day, I will once again remind the world of the time Amazon united Ireland (and apologized for the Troubles), still one of my favourite moments on twitter

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA … oh wait, these things are actually on the roads.

Trade policies? No. We’ve seen what’s been happening to tourists and legal residents there, and it’s fucking insane to think that we’ll consider that a risk worth taking for a short trip to the “land of the free”.

These fucking ghouls take their good health and good luck for granted. They don’t have the first clue what it’s like to be so unwell you can’t do the things they can. I hate Starmer and I hate his cruel, malicious government

So it’s over then, works for me

My live-action videogame improv comedy show The Dark Room is eligible for a Hugo under Best Dramatic Presentation - Short Form, I’d be honoured if you’re a voter and you gave me a nom! m.youtube.com/watch?v=5U_c...

When you’re vaguely aware of the unreliability, but still shocked by the quantitive degree of wrongness. And yet this type of LLM is the same thing that Starmer apparently wants to weave into UK government agencies.

Damn. I do not need this much harsh reality. Starmer's 5 year plan is based on AI press releases and Chatbot generated report. Labour: transferring public wealth to private companies far more efficiently than the Tories. Don't @ me without reading the article. #Labour #UKPol

As with AI art, these bros fail to understand that creative writing isn’t a slop bucket that needs refilling by any means possible. The reason creative writing is beloved is because it gives us insight into the thoughts and imaginations of fellow humans, not homogenized and plagiarized slurry

Do Not travel to the USA. It is not worth it. Cancel holidays, conferences, book tours etc. The USA is a hostile state.

"If we were to see immune damage manifesting at a population level, it would look like what we’re seeing today: big waves of common illnesses. Unusual spikes of uncommon illnesses. Course reversal for previously declining and eliminated illnesses. An unexplained, global wave of sickness."

The UK should rejoin Europe immediately for the following reasons: - it’s very cool - the trains work - the regional food is better - you like your holidays - freedom of movement - health & safety standards - human rights - again, food - who’s going to help you when Russia remembers you exist?
