pharmaoffer.com/blog/hydroch... I was just wondering why so many drug chemicals end with "HCl", and I finally got around to reading about it. I found this nice article explaining it. Bonus: it's the same distinction between crack ("cocaine") vs. cocaine ("cocaine HCl").

That was getting way ahead of myself, like, If R voters do see the harms, and miraculously, against type, change their minds; and if they are able to make their public servants/svengalis change direction, and if the blame sticks to Trump . . . I'm just trying to imagine.

If he was feeling a lack of gratitude, before, there's a simpler explanation that seems to have evaded him

Honestly not sure on my take - Trump didn't invent Project 2025 (fact), but the people who did had designed it around him.. why? He's dumb enough to do it? and to be the scapegoat? To survive being the scapegoat? R voters inexplicably trust him while R wonks always come off (rightly) as inhuman?

The Iron Law of Institutions Or People sent us money: mission accomplished Arghghhhghh

Random tech: I've had some positive experience with powershell, but it's absolutely no good as a basis for doing what a `find [ ... ] -print0 | xargs -0 [ ... ]` pattern can do. Even in Git for Windows bash, these will iterate over weird long filenames correctly where no '-literalpath' can save psh.

iso 8601 is slightly misrepresented in some of the news about Elon, with this 1875 epoch thing coming into play? That's unusual. 2025-02-14 is an iso8601 formatted date and it's exactly what it looks like. Elon is probably just lying, or looking at payments to some may/December widow, etc

"Special government employees" are restricted from participating in matters that directly involve their own “financial interests.” Given that two of Musk’s companies have received over $15.4 billion in government contracts over the past 10 years, it’s clear that that standard isn’t being followed.

?"... Not just during ..."? I thought I must be reading a NYT headline for a second

Maybe it's a variation on a "warrant canary" for a lawless world

Do you think it could be possible to build a system like Akinator - the "what famous person am I thinking of?" game - but for answering what faulty (and/or transparently evil) reason people have for voting Republican, or deprogramming some specific delusion?

holy smokes, what a blog www.hamiltonnolan.com/p/stand-for-...

Israel has burned northern Gaza’s last remaining hospital. And kicked out its patients, including neonatal and ICU patients. I picked a western news source since y’all seem more likely to believe those. I don’t know how else to get people to care. www.nbcnews.com/news/world/h...

A future Peace prize goes to the inventor of an algorithm that rightly leaves the police report at the bottom of a stack of cold cases? No, that's crazy, but maybe there could be a process that can make a UHC stock tank, or get a ceo fired before it comes to any of this? We're doing so many bad jobs

Note: there were 32 members of the board. They fired all of them \to install a new, compliant board\ because they couldn't figure out who the leaker was.

KOSA was cowritten by a Democrat (Blumenthal, CT) and a Republican (Blackburn, TN). The Republican explicitly said that they expect KOSA to be used to target queer people. Don't Say Gay, except applied to the entire internet, and enforced by the most conservative AG who is elected in any US state.

Cop City II is coming to Baltimore unless organizing starts now to stop it. They always have money to expand police facilities. Proposed Baltimore police and fire training facility has hefty price tag: $330 million
