Love the roomba. Love that it's a set and check now and again.

I'm learning how to build a text to speech AI to train on my voice. And by learn I mean deep in the code and math.
But I would not for a second use anything but a pen and paper to write. I would not be a writer if I don't use my own words. I would be a prompter.

Likely mad because the price of the subscription increased in response to the added button. And that upon looking the found others removed the unasked for feature and that removed the extra cost.

I wonder if a class-action would work to stop this crap. I want it gone.

I switched out of word for everything. I don't want this crap as a writer or as a programmer. It is just a distraction, that waists all our time. It should be opt in, not thrust upon us.

Yep. And they open at 9 and close at 5 during the week and noon on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Perfect for bringing my kids. Oh wait my kids are in school during the week? Well I still have Saturday morning? Yep. Got a nice comfy 3 hours a week to brows.
I wish I could, but the hours are so bad

I was thinking the same thing.. Brits aren't treated as second class citizens of countries they're not citizens of. They're treated as tourists, because that's what they are.
Canadians are not treated as second class citizens, when the go to France, or even the US. They are treated as visitors.

It is important to remember that this was not just about money. It was about self determination. It was about having laws voted on by the people.
The American Revolutionary War inflicted great financial costs on all of the combatants, including the United States, France, Spain and Great Britain.

Have you tried a hooded pen. They put out less ink, but seem to work well. The trick with fountain pens is to let them learn how to be "your" pen.

You should consider burning them.
Or the next time someone says remove a book from the local library, you support them.
You are supplanting others rights to judge for your own. Regardless of the content.

80% of your success in the gym is diet. If you manage the 14 days, awesome. Really awesome

Actually it's even easier than libra office, because it has that folder.. so each chapter can be it's own file, and it's super easy to access the rest of the project.

Give VSCode a go. It's a simple little app with a folder view as part of it. So you can have folder for research, images... Much like scrivener, but it's really just a folder on your hard-drive.
It's a perfect offline tool, and has a pile of free plug-ins (spelling/word count)

Fountain pen and a clipboard. :|. I love the freedom. I pull it out when I'm waiting for takeout or waiting for anything really.
Best part.
refill pen + refill clipboard and good for the week.

VScode is an app that millions of programmers use for coding every day. It's great for organising files and keeping things in projects. It as spell checking and word count add-ons (free)
It's really simple great for writing..

Given the size of usb drives these days.. I have mine on an encrypted keychain. Doubt very much I'll be leaving my house without my car keys.

How have you dealt with the subscription model? It's the one thing that prevents me from considering the device. I don't like being online when I write. I don't like being beholden to anyone for my tech.
comment in response to

Yep.. and VS code has spell checker and word count plug-ins as well as github integration (perfect for backing up the latest WIP). Good old MD :)

I like github for this. It's also free, and super easy to see changes. Also has comments and makes sharing super easy.

I actually use a pen and an a3 clipboard for first drafts.
Buy a bundle of paper, and fold ~10, and clip in. I can fit a chapter per "bunch". It prevents the urge to spell check, or wiki-dive.
Each batch gets added to an old padded laptop carrier/folio. When I'm done I type/edit.

thats a very strong reaction. One might consider changing their vue and just look at things from a different angle.
Ha.
PS Tailwind also sucks

Loads of laptops make that near impossible. Right down to the bios. After a few hours on my kids computers, I just said.. Meh you're using windows for a while.

I've had the same mac for 8 years now. I can still dev on it and effectively run tests. My kids got a windows system 3 years ago. Grinds like crazy now.

I got a track ball a few years back. Works a treat. Took getting used to. Still have to clean it now and again.

When I worked in an office, I was the only one who had a wired mouse. When the wireless apple mouses eventually died, and couldn't be reset, my wired mouse would always be borrowed. 10$ at staples works, and I got a second wired for these cases.
comment in response to

Why would the wire be under your arm. Most desks have a perfect hole for it. I've never found the wire got near my arm.

Pen and notebook + bullet journal/ time of your life (tony robbins). Been working for 20 years. Never breaks down, or needs an OS update, that breaks everything.

Totally.. What happened to the temp and time dial. Done..
Mine how has about 20 steps to run a 30 min load. My old washer took 5 seconds to start.

I was going to say the same thing. Mine is 15 years old, has a clock. I set it to run 3 hours from now, and tada. Nothing all that smart.

No.. It's great, but nearly impossible to install on laptops now. Windows has it locked down.
Also, linux is so intuitive now.. No need.

Doesn't the extra value go to the investors. And aren't retirement funds the lions share of investments.
Most investors have ~10k in shares and have an average salary of < 100k. So the value goes the people..
Not the workers true, but most people who benefit aren't on their private boats

god no.. wages have stalled. I've not got a raise in 2 years.. I'm making about what I was making 8 years ago. Wages have gone up a jokingly small amount.
comment in response to
post
Agreed.. Wages should go up.. or at the very least keep with inflation. But that does not mean I think wages should be a reflection of the value I produce. I spent years writing code for an OS that was dis-continued. So I produced no value. Should I give back my wages for this time?

But why would they want to work half as much? I would hate to work half as much. Retirement is a leading cause of death.
