This is what the government did with 120K+ Japanese Americans in 1942. I know. I was there in those camps.

...check up on yo strong friends...

Debunking can be a fun way to find an audience in science communication, but I think it can be over-relied on. We should be celebrating more than we are defending, not just because it’s less miserable, but also because it’s good marketing!

I've been seeing posts along the lines of "now is the time to read more Malcolm X & less MLK" and, respectfully,NO!Malcolm's race analysis is powerful, but please don't diminish the radicalism of MLK.His class analysis accurately captured how the U.S. invisibilized the poor & prioritized power.

You won't believe this. My team and I make this show called SciShow that works hard to be rigorous and accurate while also being appealing and entertaining. We reach a LOT of people every year with episodes about crabs and neutrinos and gender and cancer and vaccines. It's great, I love it.

Repost if you're a safe person.

This is a great piece. "As deportations ramp up again, we have a choice: We can watch as our neighbors disappear or we can build on these proven strategies to protect the diverse communities we've built together."

I might have finally infected @roleo.bsky.social with my mad love for the beauty of trees.

Prayers at government meetings and robotic recitations of the pledge of allegiance always make me feel like I'm living in a very boring dystopian thriller.

Government-mandated internet restrictions only make our online lives more dangerous.

Here's the thing about learning to cook at home: not everything you make is going to turn out the way you want or expect and that's fine. You're going to make some mistakes, you're going to take some time to learn some basic techniques. There's no magic button. Dive in and give it a try if you want.

Found this deep in my computer archives. Still tracks.

Don't assume maximalist outcomes for the Trump administration. That's a form of psychological surrender. We should attempt to exploit every stumble, failure, and misstep, and there will be stumbles, failures, and missteps.

Alternative New Year's Resolutions: -age better than your exes -be healthier than your parents -sleep 8 hours a night -charge your phone outside of your bedroom -wear sunscreen every day -donate 10 items you never use -make plans with a new friend every month -dance more often -be proud of yourself

Do not let your struggles get you down. Instead let it radicalized you to class consciousness and class solidarity. We rise by helping each other.

I wrote about how Congress has turned into a senior center. How many AOCs are never elected because 80-year-olds refuse to step down? How many young lawmakers don’t acquire leadership roles — and miss out on years of experience — because seniority is prized above anything else?

As long as everyone washes their hands, I’m good.

Happy birthday to the great Avery Brooks, a great actor, performer and leader. He always inspired me as a kid. Here is a scene about Human existence from the Star Trek Deep Space Nine pilot "Emissary" This is Star Trek
