15 min sykefravær i #dax18.

Both may be right, right. Personal, material loss may change some republicans views, theoretically it should be kind of hard ignoring climate change in Florida of all places. Must be rough though, realizing that believing doesn't really translate to policy, nor underlaying structures.

In Paris, he described AI as a great opportunity, but one the United States had to control while ensuring it aligned with his right-wing view of the world and wasn’t constrained by European regulations. He doesn’t care if AI targets minorities.

Was kind of sad watching him rapidly drift into full antivax conspiracy after he got covid. Arguably a very controversial figure before the pandemic, so maybe not surprising after all, certainly not the only dude losing it during the last 5 years. Lessons to be learned (I read some of his stuff).

Domestically, the only points of tension between "Trumpism" and the GOP mainstream of 10 years ago are tariffs, which are so far nothing like what was promised, and maybe immigration, though Romney basically mainstreamed restrictionism in '12. Perceived ideological ambiguity is Trump's greatest con.

This is the project, this is what's happening. It's an oligarchy acceleration project, it's a hollowing out of the state, often in the dumbest possible way. It's about control. It's a travesty. I'll say it again: It's government by Grok.

Claiming shutdown of AMOC likely in 20-30 years (an absolute outlier position), arguing SRM is falsely described as geoengineering and needed asap when shipping aerosol question far from settled, is highly problematic, as is arguing society holds SRM back from young people.

If an epoch is a unit of geological time where a rock series is deposited, wouldn't future scientists, although full of stuff, rather dig into a layer from an event horizon and not an epoch, unless we get our shit together i.e. beat the bad guys and prosper for millions of years?

Same. A college friend of mine from the 80s is a brilliant autodidact and saw fascism coming to the US as an inevitable reality in the first Bush administration. So she managed to get Canadian citizenship, purchased a home there, and has a place to go when things get truly ugly.

It is also terrifying because it shows that while Musk is a complete idiot who has no grasp of what he is doing or saying, some of those working in DOGE do (at least partially). And they are committed to a full-on implementation of their racist/authoritarian plans.
