Turns out Le Pen is not mightier than the fraud.

While traditional employers with 19th century prejudices screen for outdated markers like prestigious university degrees, extensive relevant experience, or basic competence, I drove excellence for my team by looking for the key intangibles you can't find on a resume and hiring the CEO's nephew.

A very old Soviet joke, from an especially dark time: Foxes are fleeing the USSR in droves. Q: Why are you running away? Fox: The Soviets passed a new law that they’re going to arrest all camels. Q: But you’re foxes! Fox: Yeah, why don’t *you* try proving to the NKVD that you’re not a camel.

Ukrainians are struggling to find suitable homes and jobs due to rules around visa extensions. This isn't right. The UK should be a safe, secure and welcoming place for Ukrainians fleeing Putin's war.

Best one yet

Full statement from Labour MP Kim Johnson on today's Spring Statement

So now we have new 25% Trump tariffs on cars from overseas and I'll remind us all again, if we were in a deep goods alignment arrangement with the EU, it would wipe out the negative impact of this entirely, and grow GDP by 1.5% Insanity not to prioritise EU. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I keep thinking this lot can’t go any lower, but they always do. Honour, integrity, character, dignity, self-respect, respect for country, service, count for nothing. Greed, ambition, entitlement, arrogance. No shame. No limits. No principles. They debase everything. I despise them.

You win, Corks & Curds.

This consultation is infuriating and condescending from the title down, but we all should still fill it out. It's shorter than I expected, at least. www.gov.uk/government/c...

The Labour leadership has lost sight of the difference between 'positive reasons' to vote *for* a party and 'negative reasons' *not* to vote for it Labour is working overtime to avoid giving its target voters reasons not to vote for it - but isn't giving people a reason to vote for it

Simple and powerful little video

We could do with a bit more of this. I thought when Trump won, he’s got everything now: White House, both houses, Supreme Court. Let’s see how he does. The most cursory glance at his CV proves he’s TERRIBLE at running anything. Why should the US be any different? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Jeez this is awful. Resolution Foundation warns changes to rules for PIP disability benefit could cost up to 1.2m people between £4,200 and £6,300 a year. What is this government thinking? Has it gone completely mad? www.theguardian.com/politics/liv...

If they were doing this plus supporting more people on incapacity benefit into work it would be a great package. Ruined by the HMT imposed PIP cuts that have nothing to do with work and will put huge numbers into poverty.

Tough Choices!

The news: *unending, unremitting despair and hatred* Social media: *unending, unremitting despair and hatred* Politicians: "mental illness is being overdiagnosed"

NEW: chief executive of Citizen's Advice warns that cutting benefits for disabled people will push more people into poverty and make it harder for them to get into work, in a rare intervention for the organisation. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Welcome to Trumptown. (🖼️ Matt Wuerker, Politico)

This is absolutely shocking if true. A government's treatment of its most vulnerable citizens is a key indicator of its humanity and the strength of its social fabric. Enough is enough

If you cut foreign aid, you are hurting the vulnerable. If you cut or freeze PIP & other disability benefits, you are hurting the vulnerable. The recipients can’t push back, & have little power to resist. If you increase wealth taxes, you’re not going to hurt anyone. But the rich, push back

Nice work in Tottenham

Lads, I am sorry, but you really are going to have to put taxes up.

"The whole point about a secret agent is that he is not obvious about his allegiance: at all times, he must seek to disguise it [and] kompromat only works by exploiting a target's fear of shame. Trump is a man incapable of shame." 'Krasnov' is plausible, but this remains a readier explanation imo.

oh right so we've decided it's the fault of the disabled now have we fucking brilliant well done lads

Slashing billions from welfare will not help people into work or save money, Rachel Reeves warned Campaigners are calling on the government to tax wealth instead of taking money from benefits claimants www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

In vast areas of the US, the sentiments expressed in this wonderful letter from a British man about why it's a privilege to pay tax to enable the National Health Service to run would see him probably certified as insane and labelled a "socialist".
