Some of us remember the weapons of mass destruction fiasco that ultimately were found not to exist, but were said to exist & led us into war.

This day was inevitably going to come, but it will undoubtedly cause more problems than it sets out to solve. Who will access this data? Parents & relatives, medical professionals, insurance companies, big pharma, politicians, racists, anti-trans activists..? Ticking time bomb, I think.
comment in response to post
Also the insurance companies. Will GDPR legislation prevent citizens from having to reveal their disease risk to these sharks?

Of course this narcissistic man thinks he knows better than a host of professionals whose job it is to discover what's really going on. He just wants a good reason to start a war, show them who's boss, make them realise the error of their ways. Never works out like that, though, does it?

Thinking of Maggie Thatcher
comment in response to post
Very true. Nobody wants this war, except the testosterone-fuelled leaders. Yes, the world needs more women in charge!

How can you profess to be a Christian yet can still justify killing people you've never met before, just because you heard they have different views to yours? Don't think Jesus would've been very supportive of that!

MPs have shown they can choose compassion & enable dignity for a very small, vulnerable & easily overlooked group of people, for which I applaud them. Can they please now extend their compassion to other groups of desperate people in the population, namely trans people & disabled people?

Just about to post the same thing!

This is the first thing I've agreed with this headteacher on. She (probably rightly) usually gets a bad press, but I think she's right on this one. Let children have mobile phones, sure, but smart phones aren't necessary for most. I accept that this will never happen & feel sorry for today's kids.

I spoke recently to a very nice religious lady who cited the case of Isla Bryson as justification for why ALL trans women need barring from women's facilities. I did my best to educate her, but it revealed how the media can shape opinion by insinuating isolated incidents are widespread occurrences.

Then how can anyone take anything this commission says seriously? It can neither be fair nor equal, but only biased, as we've all seen in its recent 'guidance'. It seems the whole thing needs disbanding & a new model setting up with new criteria.

Ex-MP Clare Short gave a good interview on this on the Radio 4 PM programme this evening. As Evan Davis said, her views are 'very clear'. The UK has no business in this potential war & should keep well out of it.

I'm still learning the shocking truth of the make-up of the EHRC. How do these extremists get a job in equality? Do you have to be a racist/transphobe/misogynist to be considered for the job? It seems like it.

Who says it's 'not working'? Just one journalist, whoever they are. We don't have to read this stuff.
comment in response to post
She was an outlier.
comment in response to post
Yes. The world would be a better place. Men are always too ready to fight.
comment in response to post
Are there actually any reports of a trans woman raping a cis woman in a ladies' toilet? If not, what is all this for?
comment in response to post
As if he's taken any notice of any 'rules' up till now. He's done exactly as he likes, leaving a trail of lawsuits behind him which will take months to resolve, if then.

It's always mad men who've taken us into wars. Sane people don't want war, as we all know how it ends. Badly. Always.
comment in response to post
Brilliant reply. Thank you. We await her response, if any.

Not a nice colour combination. Only flattering if you're shaped like a model. I need a relaxed fit that's longer in the body. It's not my style, unfortunately.

His desired Nobel Peace Prize will be out the window if he joins this conflict.

Not 40 weeks, it's 24 weeks. 'Praying' is a euphemism for harassment. Get your facts straight.
comment in response to post
That's exactly it! I'll make note of your simplification, thanks.

Is she really a Labour MP, or a Tory in disguise?

Aphra Brandreth MP is in both lists - aye and no.

Particularly pleasing considering what's been going on across the pond. I feared we might have imported their ideology, & there were already mutterings amongst some right-wingers, but it seems we can sometimes make the right decision after all.

One bit of good news this week, at least..

Why is everyone pandering to this awful government? The whole world seems to have lost its moral compass.
comment in response to post
In the same way the phrase "it's common sense" has been commandeered by the right, so now I don't feel I can use it anymore. Whenever a politician says it, I know they're using it to justify a regressive policy that will take us back decades.

How can you now prove you've lived in your chosen gender for 2 years when you can't use the correct toilet?
comment in response to post
This man hasn't made a single sensible decision since he took office. I'd like to see him ousted in a cabinet reshuffle.

Behind a paywall so I can't read it.

I must have been sleeping. Who is he?

Still looks like far too many Trump supporters, though
comment in response to post
I didn't hear that, but have always felt that the BBC are anti-Trump though still report all his stuff as national broadcasters have to. Too much nuance & back-stories are left out of the bulletins though. Some of the news podcasts are good to get context & more info.
comment in response to post
I hope that's all, too, but if we're out there then we could get sucked into it.
comment in response to post
Shocking development Why are we getting involved?
comment in response to post
Is that would would happen, though? Isn't it the gym that would be prosecuted for not providing separate facilities, or ensuring only the 'right' people were using them?
comment in response to post
It sounds like they were surprised!
comment in response to post
And if Reform UK get into power, their similar ideology will lead us down the same path. It could happen in the UK. We won't be able to say we didn't know.

Moving jets to Israel sounds like he's going far beyond "refusing to rule out..." This makes me so angry & I strongly oppose this development. We do not want to be sending our young men into a war over there. Dealing with Russia/Ukraine is bad enough.
comment in response to post
Bad publicity of their own making. Best to avoid this place.
comment in response to post
It would be so easy to just have a 'toilets' sign with lots of cubicles, some with baby-changing and disabled persons' facilities. The current situation is a needless mess of our own creation.
comment in response to post
Too many signs, too confusing. We need ladies, gents & baby-changing in both. Let people decide which one they want to use. Easy peasy.
comment in response to post
Did they...? We need that fact-checked!

Great episode, thanks!

Slightly slurring his words...?

The whole world is watching this. Republicans, be ashamed.
