🚨BREAKING🚨 www.theguardian.com/business/202.... 🌿 Green MP @carladenyer.bsky.social gets DESNZ minister to admit Rosebank court ruling applies to 13 further oil/gas licences ✅ Power of #ClimateLitigation &last yearcs Finch case ⚠️Our children will see blood on #Starmer hands if he stops this

💥 BREAKING 💥 A thousand people have come to London today to sit on the Strand outside the Royal Courts of Justice. This is to signal to the justice system against imprisoning peaceful protesters who are acting to defend planetary and public health. 🧵

👏 A HUGE thank you to all the MPs who have pledged to vote to progress the Climate and Nature Bill at its pivotal Second Reading this Friday, 24 January. 🐝 zerohour.uk 🧵

It’s no longer acceptable for scientists to sit on the fence Last week I concluded my review of the year by writing “I hope 2025 is the year people worldwide wake up to the multiple threats we are facing and start to act accordingly.” Maybe my wish for the year is beginning to be fulfilled. This…

"Current #climate policies risk catastrophic societal and economic impacts" The Institute & Faculty of Actuaries and climate scientists from @exeter.ac.uk published a vital new report today. Here's a thread with some key takeaways 🧵

"Contrary to common beliefs, we find that misinformation isn’t universal or a general condition of our media ecosystem. Instead, it's specifically associated with radical-right populist parties that spread misinformation as a political strategy."

🙏 UK faith leaders delivered Keir Starmer an urgent letter at 10 Downing Street today. 📣 “We ask you to support the passage of the Climate and Nature Bill through Parliament—and back the #CANBill at its pivotal Second Reading on 24 January.” 👉 zerohour.uk

1/ On 24th January the Climate and Nature Bill will be read in Parliament but – outrageously – the Labour party may not allow its MPs a free vote It’s no exaggeration to say the fate of the world depends on urgent political action, so this is no time to be playing party politics 🧵

Societies advance when guided by science and fall back under the spell of self-serving populists. Nearly 1,200 scientists say it’s vital that the UK passes the Climate & Nature Bill for ambitious, legally-binding action. Has your MP committed yet to vote on Friday 24th Jan?

My first comment piece in @theguardian.com is on a topic very close to my heart; the threat that the #ClimateCrisis poses to my local community in South Wales. Here's a thread with a few extra thoughts from me 🧵

The Climate and Nature Bill is dream legislation and we - you and I - have the chance to help make it UK law But what’s so great about it, don’t we have legislation for climate and the environment already? Well... Here are my Top 10 favourite things about the #CANBill

1/ Five years ago, climate activism by scientists was new, strange, and frowned upon Today, according to new data, it has become *the norm* 🧵

Some excellent reporting of COP29 corruption by @desmog.bsky.social over the past few days: www.desmog.com/2024/11/07/u... www.desmog.com/2024/11/08/m... We are very pleased to hear DeSmog will be there to investigate.

🌍 As #COP16 has come to an end, and as #COP29 begins, one thing is clear—the climate and nature crises cannot be solved in isolation. 🌿 They’re deeply interconnected—and it’s time for the UK’s approach to be as well. #CANBill 🧵 www.zerohour.uk/cop29/

Today we went to Parliament again to speak to our MPs about fossil fuel policy. We had some good conversations, which will be continued in our constituencies, because there is no time to lose. We need to say no to new oil and gas.

The ECT allows fossil fuel companies to sue governments for loss of hypothetical profits. A 20yr sunset clause means we need to grab this chance to leave en masse with other EU countries or face huge financial risk. The govt will decide this month - let’s help them. gju.st/3foecAI
