My brother died serving this nation. It'd be nice if his sacrifice and my family's loss was for something better than what this nation has become.

Resharing this comment to another great post because it very much reflects my perception of Christianity, especially as practiced here in the US. Are there good Christians who don't believe all this horrible stuff? Yes. I know some. But the people in charge are the kind described in this thread.

We've also forgotten that government should exist to serve the common good, not to serve the wealthy and their corporations.

Truly. I've wanted a society that cares for its people and the environment since I was old enough to read a history book, and we've moved further away from it for my entire lifetime.

This made me think of @scalzi.com.

I was thinking about whataboutism yesterday. It seems to be the principle logical fallacy of our age and the favorite way of the propagandists to keep us from seeing the truth. Stick to what's right and skip the whataboutism.

I wish this message could penetrate the closed minds on the right.

But the billionaire propaganda machine keeps people voting for the GOP and against their own interests.
