And don't forget that now Bluesky has a "followers only" reply mode to reduce the drive-by arguments you mentioned from being in the discover feed! They can only reply if they follow you (and thus know vaguely who you are)!

The wedding stuff had free parking at the Disneyland Hotel, but I'm wondering how clear that was - it did seem relatively easy to find a spot in self-parking
comment in response to post
There was also a Disney Wedding showcase today with ~300-400 people in attendance. (Granted, it was at the hotel)

I've posted before about the original concept for this ride; it was quite a lot larger and would've tightly integrated Indiana Jones with the Jungle Cruise and Disneyland Railroad bsky.app/profile/jays...

Neolibs would rather throw her and the rest of our country under the bus so they can continue collecting their bloodstained paychecks while saying vague platitudes about how they "really feel for us" but "now isn't the right time"

It doesn't help that the people running the Democratic Party at the time that episode aired are the same people running the Democratic Party now

WDWNT literally started making stuff up for clicks and it got links to them banned from multiple Disney subreddits altogether

To make sure it gets to the right CM: * Ask them for their name directly. Sometimes CMs lose a nametag and are using a borrowed one (or one with a name that doesn't match Disney's database) * Note the exact time down to the minute * Note the exact location they were at (CMs rotate every 30 minutes)

I will say that when I worked in the parks, the little presents from guests were much more memorable than any individual guest compliment. And they're more likely to get to me (whereas I feel like 50% of guest compliments never left City Hall)

My first nametag with my year pin is at the bottom of the river. I've been meaning to ask if they've found it at any point since I quit 5 years ago; I'd quite like it back

As for what the CM actually GETS - for the non-app compliments, they get a certificate (like the ones pictured). They don't get a raise, nor are they more likely to get promotions etc. - they just get a nice certificate. When I worked in the park I would hang mine up (until I ran out of wall space)

The app WORKS but it's very impersonal (or it was). The best way when I worked in the parks was City Hall, but you had a 50/50 shot of it actually getting to the CM. I've been told physical mail can work, as well as emailing [email protected] or using disneyland.disney.go.com/help/email/

It _does_ work (or did when they rolled it out initially), but at least back when it first was rolled out the compliment was digital too. Usually when you got a compliment they would print it on fancy paper and stick it in a nice folder. The digital compliments weren't quite the same

(Management took it upon themselves to recreate the leaf for me; it did not last long)

A guest sent in a letter (with pictures) and no joke 3 years later my manager finally got it and made a special guest compliment. I guess it was also talked about during a parkwide manager all-hands (which I was not invited to). I very distinctly remember this guest... back in 2015

FOMO is a powerful motivator. "Better buy now so it doesn't get more expensive later!" Also a lovely element of gambling to it, which is the new hotness in the mid-2020s

Bear in mind that this stuff is relatively safe since it started as a toy for children that a bunch of nerds took too far. A lot of the modern side of the hobby was developed by nerdy college kids at MIT: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tech_Mo...

That's correct; it's AC current and the different polarity means either a 1 or 0. A tiny onboard computer parses the signal and converts it to the relevant DC voltage for the motor. It isn't too complicated and it's pretty low voltage; usually 12v. Even the DIY stuff shouldn't zap you too bad

Let's not forget that Schiff made ads for his Republican opponent because he was afraid of facing Katie Porter in the general. I hope we can primary them both from the left and kick their neoliberal collaborator asses

This is all hypothetical, mind - but if the answer is "you need to have a known domain with a valid WHOIS and must develop in the clear", it makes it a lot harder to pitch native ATProto integration for internal projects compared to "Yeah just grab an API key and use this development endpoint"
comment in response to post
Question: Say that I'm making a new lexicon and I don't want to associate it with a domain name yet. Is there a way to develop without a domain? Examples: * I haven't bought a domain * I work for a company where it's a lot of paperwork to add a DNS record * I don't want to leak what I'm working on

This won't affect things like Medi-Cal through California, would it?

FWIW - DCC is standard for most model train layouts nowadays. It sounds technical but at the end of the day all it does is "I want to stop this train but make this other train keep going" - i.e. it lets you drive 2 trains at once. But it's a VERY common term because everyone has a DCC system

God damnit. Which studio was she at, if I may ask? I was hoping EA had done enough bloodletting by now; that news has me worried about being laid off for the third time in 3 years. I'm so sorry and hope she can find something quickly.

I had the unfortunate experience of being in a Hobby Lobby recently, and they had a book next to the check-out counter talking about "toxic empathy" and how "the left manipulates you" into caring for others. And of course it quoted the Bible a lot

Less Trump, more TikTok IMO. Yes, Trump tried to ban it in his first term - but Dems only started to take the TikTok ban seriously because of Gaza, and that was under Biden: bsky.app/profile/kenk... Congress being less than forthcoming about their motivations spooked Chinese investment generally
comment in response to post
My only guess is that the TikTok ban spooked NetEase enough that they're ditching all US investments
