I can only imagine what Manfred must be thinking while toting water for this clown. I don't care for Manfred, but he is not stupid.

VSG appears to be in the business of telling politicians what they want to hear, that they need to spend billions on a new stadium, so why not just build a new one? I'm sure they come highly recommended by owners. It's estimates aren't objective or credible.

Is it? I hadn't seen this. Frankly I've pretty much given up on the subject.

I won't be surprised at all if the Rays get sold to this ownership group, but the details being leaked don't make a lot of sense. Like I wonder if the deal is for more than the team. Or the new owner has a secret public deal in place.

Agreed, but talk of this sale still sounds a bit premature. A sale price that's 25% greater than what Sportico has the team valued at ($1.35 B), and there's no appetite for public funds for a new stadium.

How can you write: "Let’s also not ignore the Orlando angle," and follow it by noting the organizers "are in the process of setting up a meeting"?

The MLB-seeking group in Orlando makes Stu Sternberg and John Fisher look competent. "The Dreamers, at least, have a public-private stadium plan in place and are in the process of setting up a meeting with Orange County leaders" ...LOL, no. www.orlandosentinel.com/2025/06/18/t...

Update: Revisions commencing. The good news about the wait is that it gave me time to gather financial data for MLS stadiums and minor-league ballparks, which I will include.

Incentives are not the "sweetener," they're the culprit. There is nothing else unique about this area that would attract data centers. Georgia politicians are just suckers for this grift.

It's gotten to the point where I actually seek out coverage from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, so I can see what Fisher wants the narrative to be.

Fact-checking claims from non-credible sources lends them undue credibility. It's appropriate to dismiss assertions from entities that have no demonstrated credibility. The solution is to report the informed opinions objective researchers who have extensively studied the subject.
