If you have, say, a PostgreSQL database, I'd probably try to create a primary key like (job name, iso date) and then just have potentially every instance try to insert the record into a Cron tracking table at around that time. If you actually get to insert, run it there then update with results.

Also, I would have no opposition at all to cargo adding a "--loosey-goosey" or "--unlocked" flag, or whatever, for people who prefer a little more adventure in their software journey!

To be honest, I basically don't ever want random upgrades that haven't been tested in the context of the application. If the project includes a lock file, "cargo install" should respect it. If a project decides that any old version of dependencies is just fine, presumably they can not commit one!

I'm not really sure why, to be honest. The practical change in behaviour would be marginal, and a lot of things would start to work magically that didn't work before. I don't think the result would ever actually be incorrect per se.

I feel that --locked not being the default is definitely doing everybody a disservice

I certainly think people would be less fucked up in general if they could admit that they would like to have sex, or that it isn't shameful or sinful, or that having sex is not directly and implicitly equivalent to love or building a family, etc.

Get some soft money and pay for a bunch of TV crews to wander around in government buildings with a congressperson, filming the crime and making records. How is the person that posts about Elon's aeroplane jaunts doing more than what's being done by the party?!

I appreciate that they're all in the minority, but it would be super cool if they'd learnt anything about the art of obstruction from the back seat from the other clowns. Stop voting for anything that comes up. Let them implode because they can't pass a budget. Be on TV heckling the shitheads.

Alas, one of them would have to say or do anything.

This is somehow worse than Microsoft V-Chat 2.0, the 3D spatial chat system by which all subsequent efforts must be judged: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microso... Also, why does everybody sound like they're doing an English dub of an episode of Power Rangers?!
