The 100 lowest-paying major US corporations spent $522B on stock buybacks from 2019 to 2023.   Buybacks artificially boost share prices and inflate CEO pay. The typical worker at these companies earned just $34k.  Meanwhile, the average CEO was paid $14.7M. See the problem?

The President is lying about Social Security as an excuse to gut Social Security after promising not to touch it. Why? To pave the way for more tax cuts for the rich.

Socialism is what they called public power.  Socialism is what they called social security.    Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.   Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people. —Harry Truman, 1952

Extending the Trump tax cuts for the next 10 years would add roughly $4 trillion to the deficit. Remember this the next time Republicans try paying for them with cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.  The "party of fiscal responsibility" is full of it.

RFK Jr. is far more than just an “anti-vaxxer.” Over the years, he’s made countless outrageous statements on a wide range of topics. We’ve compiled 10 of the wildest clips—though even that barely scratches the surface.

Medicaid didn't go offline because it was too "woke." School lunch programs weren't put at risk because of immigrants. Funding for cancer research wasn't on the chopping block because of trans people. All of this (and more) was jeopardized because of one person: Donald Trump.

Trump's funding fiasco is a sign of what's to come under his second regime. But we can't tune out. That's exactly what the oligarchs want.

Meatpacking giants Perdue and JBS will pay a combined $8M penalty for employing migrant children as young as 13 to work in their slaughterhouses. These cases are part of a dangerous resurgence of child labor in America, fueled by corporate greed.

The corporate takeover of American politics was rapid and ruthless. In the 1970s, I watched as thousands of corporate lobbyists descended on Washington. Fast forward to today, and lobbying has become a $3.7 billion dollar industry. It all began with the Powell Memo.

"The system is made to have these happy little accidents that end up resulting in a lot of money from taxpayers."

Tomorrow will be a dark day. But we are a resilient people. We will get through this scourge. robertreich.substack.com/p/tomorrow-w...
