We should ALL go on strike. I worry we are too big of a country to organize effectively for one though.

I agree the article mentions non violent protesting/marching but also stresses the 3.5% number as being a benchmark for successful participation. I consider a general strike to be a form of peaceful protest, albeit not in the streets. Hitting with our pocketbooks seems worth a try.

It only takes about 3.5% of a population to be of some success with a general strike, that’s about 11 million people in the US. There is currently some organizing happening for this already at

No, we should try a general strike first. Last resort should be marching.

My husband has been in sales his entire life, he always says “never sell past the close”.

With how he’s been voting they will go through with his help anyway. Really disappointed in him.

I am convinced the only way at this point is with our $$. Withhold as much spending as possible, and only buy local if possible.

No thank you, but I heard it was pitchy

I don’t see anything working at this point but a general strike. Those who can, should. I am self employed and have the luxury of stopping cold turkey. No more contributing income tax, no more selling of goods and contributing sales tax. Beyond that, only shopping local for absolute necessities.

All of them, no doubt.

When do those of us who can realistically do so, go on general strike?

I’m saddened that our elected leaders have done the bare minimum here. Calling the election within 4 hours? Conceding the next morning? Extending a smiling photo op invitation at the White House days later? Please.

I too have cancelled legacy media over the past few years and we are reducing overall consumption. Thinking of moving money into a local credit union and practicing the art of shopping locally.

Those are great ideas, here is another to tack on. Vote with our dollars every day of the year.

Many of those “bad experiences” actually equate to the death of loved ones wrongfully denied coverage, so there’s that.

I agree, I don’t understand the radio silence. It’s eerie.
