It’s like a series of waste filtration pools at a sewage treatment plant

For sure we do. And a pr campaign showing why taxes are a good thing

Either that, or better marketing around what our taxes deliver for us so tax increases become less of a 3rd rail and more of a “sure! More of that, please.”

I kind of wish we had our own DOGE, but not an evil wrecking ball one, but a planfull, deliberate, sunsetting of programs and investments and red tape redundancies that haven’t provided SROI, combined with some tax increases on the ultra wealthy 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think we have to assume number out of the US are undercounts

I wish we could figure out how to prevent little boys from turning out like Stephen. Someone had the chance to intervene when he was pulling wings off of ladybugs and burning butterflies with magnifying glasses, but didn't.

I use gpt for searching only out of frustration, because google search is terrible since it started funneling searches to add content

My assumption was always that they'd find pitchers in free agency. For three decades they drafted pitchers (the calvary, etc) and never signed hitters. Now they draft position players and sign or trade for washed up rentals. Why did we "rebuild" only to let it all sink?

Would be nice if Canada disaggregated wealth and ownership gap data by radicalization so we can start using data for race forward approaches to tackling affordability gaps. We’re lacking a disparities analysis for major policy decisions which leads to exacerbating disparate impacts.

It would be REALLY nice if they stopped sucking this year already

Weirdly, I’m hearing this in Phil Hartman’s Frankenstein voice… 🤔

It’s fascinating that these multi-decade Republican insiders have been overshadowed in their insidiousness by the Yarvins and Thiels of today’s version. It’s a radically different class, so much so that those neocons seem quaint (and somehow forgivable and forgettable for their oppo to Trump?).

@iwriteok.bsky.social when do we dive into the Bastards of the Project for a New American Century like Kristol and the other neocon pricks? All of 2000-2008 was their f’ing fault.

Sorry you don’t have an echo chamber of people who love holding on to racist relics of the past. We’re really missing the “but Robert E. Lee was a brilliant general” dialogue over here on woke bluesky

It’s in every economic mobility conversation I have with US partners. Confusion + dread. The solution should be bravery + lawyers.

It’s ok because insurance companies will pick up any tabs… right?

There have been very, very brief periods in our history when SCOTUS has NOT been packed with a majority of awful humans making racist and misogynist decisions.

More pertinent question: can America’s ~$7 minimum wage compete with China’s? Maybe Trump will ask new US manufacturing workers to take the restaurant server minimum wage and work for (still taxed!) tips somehow?
comment in response to post
Maybe not, but we shouldn’t rule anything out in WA.

The surprising part for me is how many people seem 100% ok with it. We were held together by norms alone.

Bring it on! I’m an American in Toronto and U of T is one of the best Universities in the world. I’ll take new expat faculty around for beers and give them the lay of the land.
