Jesus is strong, good, kind, and trustworthy. Francophile. Fan of Weird Al, the U.S. Constitution, and dolce far niente. "Be curious, not judgmental." Ex-GOP, politically homeless. Pastor, but not the angry, faux-macho kind.

Cowards. How can anyone just sit there and say and do nothing?

"If Zelensky gets what he wants, who benefits?" Are you serious? Ukraine (and Europe) benefit. They maintain territorial integrity and resource ownership. They expel a foreign invader. The murder of civilians & destruction of their nation ends. Democracy wins. Western alliances are strengthened.

Triomino. That's what he was going for.

And this same person is effectively in charge of the US government.

The gulf between what Trump has always obviously been and what people want to believe about him is astounding. Things shouldn't have had to come to this point, but some good may come from these shocks if the cognitive dissonance will lead people to see, accept, and respond to reality.

I'd like to think so, but I don't know anymore. It's shocking how many midwest conservatives have become comfortable with performative cruelty.

Hahaha! I never knew that backstory. That *is* even better. And better her than me. 🚫

This is an all-time great gif. It never gets old. The slightly longer version is even better.

That is depressingly accurate

The article is more thoughtful than the click-bait title.

Will there *be* anyone reporting jobs numbers next month?

$2.15M from 17,762 attendees is $120/person. Wild. And those same 17K people would have been in open revolt at the idea of paying $120 as a sports surcharge on their taxes.

"What would it take?" is a question I've become tired of asking over the last 8+ years

Trump is a coward's idea of a courageous man; a weakling's idea of a strong man; an egomaniac's idea of a thoughtful man; an unintelligent person's idea of a smart man; an insecure person's idea of a confident man. He's broken & empty. There's no "there" there. He needs therapy, not office.

Well, compared to him, Socrates and Plato were morons.

Yes, "less stressful" is a great way to describe it! I'm really thankful that my wife appreciates a celebration whenever, and it doesn't have to be on an exact date. She genuinely has no interest in going out for Mother's Day brunch or Valentine's Day dinner.

I like this idea! My wife and I had Valentine's lunch out instead of dinner. Much nicer. We also buy flowers, cards, and chocolate on discount after Feb 14. You two are an adorable couple.

Boo is a very handsome cat! Our younger daughter has a very sweet tuxedo named Panda.

The first time we met her, she stuck herself like Velcro to my wife!

I love it! My daughter's cat, Luna, is also adorably wonky.

Or snowmobile, this time of year. In WI "reasonable distance to nearest tavern(s)" = high proximity to liver damage.
comment in response to post
It's the same amount each time, but you drink it at each tavern in town. So the cumulative effect is massive.

Well, that gets @mrjamesob.bsky.social a follow. Thanks for this.

I get that, but that was also warning at a distance compared to seeing the reality play out in front of us. I'd rather see national leaders tell stories and highlight examples of destruction already happening in the hopes of preventing further destruction than wait for Mad Max conditions.

You can't do anything with people who refuse to respond. But more people would be engaged if people who can draw a media crowd would sound the alarm. People with platforms and credibility (Democratic leaders, former Presidents) are failing the nation.
comment in response to post
I think ex-Presidents have all internalized a value of not undermining the current President. It's a good practice that reinforces unity and 'country over party.' But it is deeply damaging when an Administration is so destructive of law and liberty that we are all in danger. Sound the alarm, guys.

Arbitrarily firing federal workers and stopping government work is economic contraction, not budgetary savings. Programs employ people. Workers spend money. All these activities generate downstream economic benefit. This is shortsighted, arrogant ignorance.

Great success story! Tip: hold on to "Hydrox" as a name for the next black and white.

Also, this - we impeached for trying to extort Ukraine, and he suffered no consequences. It's not surprising that he's once again trying to shake down Ukraine. bsky.app/profile/ceri...
comment in response to post
I mean, he was impeached once already for doing this (and suffered no consequences), so it's hardly surprising. He's going to keep on doing as much terrible stuff as we let him get away with.
