What’s ridiculous is when some US media try to rationalize what he is doing, speculate whether he will learn from situations, take advice, etc. What they should be covering is how alarming his actions are.

Credible journalism doesn’t give in to such demands. Keep doing what you’re doing; it’s meaningful and important leadership.

Canadians are highly offended by Trump’s threats; we are nobody’s state🇨🇦 What US media should be reporting: how alarming it is for a US president to be making statements consistent with dictators & autocrats. As if a country taken over would have the right to vote in US; you’ve missed the point.

There is no “thank you” in this. Canadians are highly offended by a US president repeatedly making statements about taking over independent countries; we in Canada are nobody’s state🇨🇦
There is a strong focus on Buy Canadian, which includes avoiding spending on anything related to US.

Zero pushback or fact checking in this “interview”; neither know what a trade deficit is. Embarrassing moment for journalism.
Here’s a fact: we in Canada are nobody’s state🇨🇦

Where is the system that is supposed to provide protection from this type of activity? The “checks and balances” that Americans seem to have so much confidence in. Officials in the US govt and related who could oppose/take action have been invisible.

This is not the first independent country that Trump has spoken about taking over. We in Canada are highly offended by his comments about our country and won’t forget. In the meantime, have seen no serious opposition in the US to his conduct, beyond the occasional person; where is everyone?

Speaking as a Canadian who has closely followed US news and politics for decades, our country is extra united these days, all because of Trump’s tariff stunt. Canadians won’t forget this.

Horrendous; those who clapped for this “speech” should be ashamed of themselves.

We in Canada 🇨🇦 are well aware that there is no basis for regarding illegal activity at the US northern and southern borders as equal; Trump is completely wrong and his conduct is irresponsible. Further, keep US guns out of our country🚫

So, federally speaking, people in the US aren’t equal🤔

It doesn’t make US voters look so good, either, as he said he would do this.

As did Canada and Mexico. We in 🇨🇦 won’t hesitate to stand up for ourselves, either.

What a despicable comment. The video of this portion of the sermon is telling, in terms of the reactions of others within this photo. It’s obvious that these people couldn’t care less about helping others, much less being asked to open their hearts to them.

He has also repeatedly referred to them as “hostages”, which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Decent people who take the highroad get streamrolled, in this situation. Am expecting to see a lot more of it, and regrets of missed opportunities.

That moment when you realize that the limo left without you, and it isn’t coming back😳
Wait until they find out who actually pays for tariffs😳

The classic “go along” guys in high places who pitifully follow whoever they consider the big dog to be. Have seen this in the biz world many times; it’s both pathetic & scary, as the go alongs are incapable of providing meaningful help when times get tough, such as in the case of a failing company.

Jim Acosta is one of the few voices on @cnn.com that is of interest; network isn’t what it used to be, “this is an apple…” is long gone.

Speaking as a senior exec, in my experience, insecure men do this to look tough, using targets who can’t defend themselves because they aren’t present. Insecurity is not unusual in the senior ranks; any time I’ve seen him interviewed, it falls flat and he appears to be in completely over his head.

Can’t count the number of FB Friend requests I’ve received over the years from obviously fake profiles of widowed/divorced men claiming to be in the military, doctors, or military doctors (usually holding a baby or rifle🤦🏼♀️). Would be funny if it wasn’t indicative of FB’s pathetic level of inaccuracy.

Those who complain about DEI don’t understand it and/or feel threatened by it. The party line is “we don’t want unqualified people”; DEI is not about hiring unqualified people.

How about covering WHY “everyone is talking about Greenland” (hint: because Trump has been talking about taking it over, among other sovereign countries)? Stop normalizing his behaviour and start covering it.

🎯Absolutely on point, from a Canadian perspective, and this is not a political issue. We are nobody’s state, and since Trump has repeatedly demonstrated he has no idea how tariffs work (and who pays) he needs a distraction (hint: if he puts tariffs on CDN imports, it’s not CDA that pays the tariff).

🎯 None of the media has sufficiently covered this point; the shocking part isn’t that Trump is a profoundly flawed candidate that says false/dangerous things, it’s that so many believe him and/or voted for him. This is not the fault of the Dems either.

People like this are too busy taking the high road and being “honourable” to effectively deal with the worst offenders; they get steamrolled unless they somehow manage to see the situation for what it is; good luck. Wouldn’t be surprised if it got leaked instead.

What has received little meaningful media coverage is why so many US voters cast aside Trump’s serious faults and voted for him anyway. There are a number of fundamental issues as to why many in US know little about rest of the world, history, etc; Canadians have experienced this directly for years🙋🏼♀️

Speaking of potential tariffs on allies, they won’t help consumer spending.
comment in response to

If he’s serious, @cnn.com
the allies will have something to say about it. Speaking as a Canadian, I would expect media to call out inappropriate behaviour for what it is, instead of normalizing by comparing it to something else.
