Streisand Effect to be renamed Zuckerberg Effect:

World: So, when will those 24 hours come in which you end the war? Trump: Oh, that was just a joke.

A very informative meme.

Rupert Lowe is suing me for reporting the accusations his party made against him. That is the SECOND multimillionaire Reform MP to threaten to bankrupt me over a tweet. These are the people standing up for free speech and the "little guy". 🤨

Nigel Farage’s “party of the people” received £100,000 from former Lehman Brothers senior banker Roger Nagioff, new donation records show. That’s the same Lehman Brothers that was at the epicentre of the 2008 financial crash - an event that plunged millions of people into hardship

Please share. 🙏🏻

Oh no. What a shame. So sad. @stopfundinghate.bsky.social pressgazette.co.uk/media_busine...

Jeez. This is absolutely appalling & shameful from Trump and Vance. President Zelenskyy is the democratically elected leader of a sovereign country who is bravely standing against the illegal invasion of Ukraine by a murderous ACTUAL dictator called Vladimir Putin

GBNews: "Are you Nigel Farage in disguise?" Starmer: "Nigel Farage didn't even turn up to the debate in Parliament. Nigel Farage is fawning over Putin. That's not patriotism." An inane question getting precicely the treatment it deserves. ~AA

America did not send $$ to Ukraine. It sent them armoury, armament, and planes etc. that the US military planned to decommission. It was the US military that was given the $$ by Congress - towards replacing the decommissioned items. Congress was replacing old hardware with new: in the US military.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. Not least as a corrective to the absolute balderdash published by the Telegraph & others.

The judge in the Axel Rudakubana case explains why the Southport murders were not considered terrorism.

Axel Rudakubana was born in the UK, grew up in the UK, raised Christian, he went to school down the road from where I grew up. There are evil people among any group. You don't have to try and make this about race, religion, or integration, because none of this is about that.

The freeze of the NIH is just the latest culmination of the right's long war on science, education, and democracy. Here are some of my ideas for what I think scientists can do about it. 🧪 conservechange.medium.com/five-things-...

“Whether it’s Musk’s control of X or Zuckerberg’s control of Meta there’s no doubt that the social media/artificial intelligence revolutions have concentrated huge power in the hands of a few wealthy people. A problem we need to address” @eddavey.libdems.org.uk www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Danish MEP Anders Vistisen tells Donald Trump to “f*ck off” 🇩🇰

Stepping back from the two big stories of the moment, pretty much all of the platforms where the Southport killer indulged his passions for violence, genocide & murder are owned & controlled by men who were in the prime seats at Donald Trump’s inauguration yesterday. And they all *hate* regulation…

Wow. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde fearlessly calls out Trump and Vance to their faces. This is heroic. (posting in 3 parts due to Bluesky's 1 minute limit)

Wow!!! Liz Cheney knows the FACTS!

Dear BlueSkyers. Sadly I'm getting many reports of scammers pretending to be me here, incl messaging people with 'investments' . Pls share/help me spread word that, as you know, THIS IS MY ONLY BLUE SKY account (proved as my handle is an official MoneySavingExpert one). All others are scams

Now this is the sort of foreign interference in UK politics I could really get behind.

Ann Telnaes, a Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist for The Washington Post, said on Friday evening that she was resigning after the newspaper’s opinions section rejected a cartoon depicting The Post’s owner, Jeff Bezos, and other billionaires genuflecting toward a statue of President-elect Trump.

Pity Farage wasn’t asked about this - he should be forced to own it @bbclaurak.bsky.social @theneweuropean.bsky.social

l'm going to say what every Musk biographer knows: he should've been deported from the US 25+ years ago and never allowed in the country again. It's not just that he's about to become an unelected President of the United States despite being ineligible for the role, it's that he _shouldn't be here_.

Isn't this the guy who said "fuck yourself in the face?" Musk be a parody.

This remains, and I say this advisedly, one of the best exchanges I have ever seen on social media

1/ Ok, so instead of just making jokes about the EU Reset, I wanted to do a very simplified thread on: - what the actual problem is Keir Starmer is trying to solve; - the options on the table; and - why this shit is hard. This will be very long. I'm sorry. Let's get wonky.

Dear Nigel: a) you weren't an MP when this happened b) sentencing reflects factors like the severity of injuries caused - ie none c) it was a MILKSHAKE you big cry-baby

“How will an ambulance get through?” A question only asked of those trying to save our planet, not millionaire landowners trying to hoard wealth. Farmers received record support in the budget. Pay what is still less than your fair share, take your tractors and piss off.

Hang on, Labour building affordable housing that we desperately need is being slated as a “controversial” by the media? Having already been slated for *checks notes* stopping race riots and paying nurses/ teachers properly? Those evil bastards. What will they do next? Give schoolkids breakfast?

This is almost as satisfying as that Nazi getting punched from 2017.

Nigel Farage has been trying to convince fellow MPs not to call time on his GB News presenting gig in upcoming reforms - Politico He pleaded to a meeting of the cross-party modernisation committee last week, after failing to vote on the smoking ban to go on TV Truly the grift that keeps grifting

“Our observations now show that the Arctic tundra, which is experiencing warming and increased wildfire, is now emitting more carbon than it stores, which will worsen climate change impacts,” said Rick Spinrad, a Noaa administrator. #ClimateChange 🧪

🔴 After Trump’s Return, Britain Is Next in the Firing Line of Putin’s War On Democracy Elon Musk’s criticisms of Keir Starmer have generated newspaper front pages. But why is the Trump funder suddenly interested in British politics? Report by @nafeez.bsky.social bylinetimes.com/2024/12/12/a...

Defra recently paid £57.5m from the farming recovery fund to English farmers hit by intense rain last winter - which is 75 times more than the amount given the last time the fund opened in 2020, figures released to Carbon Brief show
