Moms only want one thing for Mother’s Day, and it’s safe bike infrastructure.

The stations are officially open!

In Bothell, the two councilmembers who voted against a resolution explicitly spelling out the city's support for LGBTQIA+ people last month have both declined to file for re-election.

Sometimes the only way through is to create public value in the face of trauma and pain. I’m proud of the work North King County Cities have done in Washington (Bothell, Kenmore, Lake Forest Park, Shoreline & Kirkland) to build out the crisis continuum of care. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Never again is now.

Last night Bothell City Council passed a resolution (5-2) to proactively protect the civil rights of trans and gender diverse people at a time when those rights are under attack. The community showed up in support too. The photo shows the reaction in the room when the vote was finalized.

With a policy like this, 40-60% more housing can be built, so we can prioritize housing people over housing cars. Thanks Rep Duerr, the local gov committee and 64 house members for passing this bill!

Thank you, Mayor Mason Thompson of Bothell, for not just talking the talk but walking the walk—standing with the LGBTQIA+ community, with our neighbors, and with every single person who deserves to be seen, heard, and respected.

I’m grateful that when I bring forward resolutions seeking to protect those who are marginalized in our community, this is the kind of support I get from my colleagues. Thank you @masonthompson.bsky.social @ramiok.bsky.social @amandadodd.bsky.social

Vibe check: three councilmembers are openly LGBTQIA+, including me. I deeply and wholeheartedly appreciate the mayor and deputy mayor’s comments tonight. This is allyship in action. @masonthompson.bsky.social and @ramiok.bsky.social never disappoint when there is an opportunity to show up. 💜

I have an exciting announcement! I am running for re-election for Bothell City Council Position 3. It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the residents of Bothell, and I am running again to continue realizing the vision that council set forth. Please check out www.votejenne.com for more info.

AOC: If you are an LGBTQ kid or family, we cannot throw you under the bus in order to win an election. In this house, we stand together

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office. Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc. Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Research: Protected bike lanes result in approximate doubling of number of users in a network link. Roughly twice as many women as men become new users of a link when protected infrastructure is installed. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

I get frustrated when I hear public leaders prioritize objects over people’s safety, well-being, and even existence in communities. Recently, I’ve heard arguments that prioritize parking over people, trees over people and ferries over people. 😩 Beware of local control measures based on exclusion

Tonight, Bothell City Council voted (4:1) to endorse SB 5233 and HB 1445: companion bills guaranteeing universal healthcare for all Washingtonians. These bills have been cosponsored by 27 Washington state legislators. Tell your city leaders to endorse both bills too!

This is such good news 💚 Air pollution is the 4th leading cause of death for women, globally - so clean air is a win for women's health 💜 #womenshealth #airpollution #cleanair

Just one day’s supercommute from the exurbs (100 mile round trip) exceeds *2 years* worth of carbon absorbed by a cedar. So if you displace one working person into the suburbs to save one tree, you just created extra carbon equal to cutting down 500 trees, and hurt the health of countless people.

Apparently Atlanta GA Mayor Andre Dickens has figured out how to create thousands of units of new housing by rezoning under-utilized municipal land, and using public-private partnerships. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

I’m grateful to see coverage addressing some of the challenges communities face when working with faith leaders and community partners to build affordable housing.

Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"

Just as Bothell’s Climate Advisory group began their work (on Monday of this week).

Oh hey, I remember providing similar comments when Bothell was considering adopting the 2025 comp plan. Like in Seattle, misinformation abounded.

Homelessness in the United States is getting worse. But homelessness among military veterans has been getting better. The difference is that with the latter, a HOUSING FIRST approach is used. And like everywhere else that it’s used, it’s working. And it saves money. So why isn’t it used everywhere?

One way to know is how quickly the transphobes accuse ciswomen of being trans. It’s all about policing the expression of femininity and enforcing outdated patriarchal expectations.

The Urbanist showed Bothell some love in this article about Eastside cities!

Wow, I never knew he said this. Jimmy Carter was ahead of his time—a man of unmatched kindness and integrity. Truly, he was too good for us.

This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities.

70% of Americans who receive food stamps and Medicaid work full time, with Walmart one of the worst offenders as the country’s single largest employer. Taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to subsidize corporations who get away with paying poverty wages, especially not while raking in record profits.

While veteran homelessness is down, children experiencing homelessness is up. Remember when the Child Tax Credit reduced childhood poverty by 50% for a few months? We could bring that back and make sure kids have a safe, warm place to sleep.

Just over here wearing my “All I want for Christmas is the abolition of the imperialist white supremacist capitalist heteropatriarchy” hoodie while we open presents as a family.

No evidence of cause & effect in this study but: “… the findings align well with existing evidence about physical activity’s benefits for mental health.“ Making it easier for people to walk as part of daily routines is an important part of boosting public health & tackling health inequalities.
