Lovely humans, I'm training to run a half-marathon for @scotrefugeecouncil.bsky.social in May! I only started running last year so this is a big challenge for me - but I know the challenge for refugees to rebuild their lives is even greater. All donations/shares would be HUGELY appreciated!! ❤️❤️❤️

Libraries are going to need your love now more than ever so please use them

The first episode of “An t-Eilean” was excellent and this is going to be a dark delicious slice of twisty Tartan Noir. I could see when I talked to Sorcha Groundsell that she was excited about the series. She’s right to be! It’s on the BBC iPlayer!

Happy Feast Day of St Mungo! We want to share this wonderful piece of street furniture which features St Mungo in his most iconic image, as part of the Glasgow Coat of Arms. ✨Lamppost door from the George Ward Collection, on display on our mezzanine level.

Support for independence has boomed since Starmer came to power. The union is now officially living on borrowed time. The Yes movement needs to get its act together right away so it’s ready to seize the moment My column in @heraldscotland.bsky.social www.heraldscotland.com/politics/vie...

@glasgowgallivanter.bsky.social Hello Anabel glad you are here. Welcomex

Such a profoundly moving piece on the late, great Edna O’Brien by Stephen Rea. www.theguardian.com/books/2024/d...

Please resend if you believe in freedom for Scotland.

Festive Giveaway! RT and follow by 5pm on Friday 27th December. I’ll pick one lucky person from all entrants on Twitter and Bluesky. One lucky person can pick either shelf 1, 2, 3 or 4 from my Bertvent books of the year as a New Year treat! UK only.

Worth remembering that for some people, Christmas is absolutely NOT, ‘The most wonderful time of the year’. Please repost this, as there are so many who are struggling while others celebrate.

It also makes it harder for them to ban books.

Always find it quite strange - and I do know a few of them - how anyone over, say 18, (outside of playful performative nonsense) can genuinely hate someone who supports a different football team.

I asked SoS 25 years ago about doing an in-depth investigation into everything surrounding an Old Firm game: the increase in domestic violence, the trouble on public transport, pressure on A&E departments and other issues. It was rejected. But these matches are still tarnishing Scotland today!

This is what the Labour government is doing to you Spread the word No Change Till Free🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Killing OAP,s Taking private health care backhanders Police unable to afford current sizes 2 child cap Bedroom tax Allowing energy prices to rise for no reason

Let Scotland flourish.

And now no more for lack of time. What an ending (Mantel’s and Kosminsky’s which did hers justice, I think, though it would have been hard to match those last ten lines).

Beautiful Scotland ❤ 📍 Isle of Skye 📷IG: @fayazey

Madame Pelicot is the cover. Madame Pelicot is, for many women, the cover. Madame Pelicot's courage is the cover. The rest of us can but applaud and be inspired. @jamieklingler.bsky.social

The Media won't acknowledge this video of the farmers blocking an ambulance with its blue lights on so could you could RT it so people see it?

Nice. It would be another nail in the coffin of the idea that if you’re famous for one thing, you’re magically good at everything. Writing a book is fucking hard. People who can do it well enough to be hired for the job need to be recognised as skilled, specialised labour.

Broon doing his lines.

And that’s before a Yes campaign has begun and after a decade of media ‘Scotland is shite, SNP is bigly bad’ Never stop fighting, never give up🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This is Lord Offord Offord is a major shareholder in The Borders Distillery Company & bottlers company Alpha Whisky. He used his position to deliberately stop the Scottish Government Deposit Return Scheme & wasted millions of taxpayer's monies to stop it affecting his shares

Living on the edge. Packed final boxes for charity & Unloading stuff for the tip from my father’s house. Sale completes today. A tip - don’t do this! #TooLastMinute

He's not wrong.

If you are catastrophically online and have an interest in tech, the current digital landscape is both fascinating and terrifying. For everyone else, it’s just terrifying. If it's not, you need to start paying attention. Find out why in The National today👇 www.thenational.scot/politics/247...

Happy 1st of December. Today, a 🧵 of Scottish women worthy of statues. Statues memorialise in a specific way. They honour achievement. First, Jennie Lee, MP and founder of the Open University. The work she did as Arts Minister was transformative. Also = Mrs Aneurin Bevan. /1

In one of those random coincidences the universe sometimes serves up, having been unable to make Janey’s Edinburgh send-off, I found myself behind her hearse all the way back west. ‘You better no crash intae the back as me’ I could hear her say. An honour to chum you home, pal. See you tomorrow 😢

Great Xmas treat for Michael Marra lovers at DCA Dundee. Screening of his live performance at Bonar Hall, Dundee in 2000 for High Sobriety live album. Features Hermless, Frida Kahlo's Visit to the Taybridge Bar and If Dundee was Africa. Vintage. www.dca.org.uk/events/o3K-m...

UK Labour are not socialist. If they were, I wouldn't need to post this in recognition of my utter disgust for them. I didn't leave Labour, Labour left me. #AreYouYesYet 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Four candles or fork handles? The first we can help with, the second not so much. Indulge in the festive season, buy something unusual, and support @womenslibrary.bsky.social at the same time. womenslibrary.org.uk/shop/gwl-fes...

I angered him today. Pray for me.

Wow. Massive tennis news. Might take a wee adjustment for Andy Murray fans to start cheering on Djokovic - but we’ll get there 🤣🎾🎾🎾

Why don’t councillors realise why libraries are so important? I’m in one in Aberdeen at the moment. It’s warm - while it’s freezing outside - it’s busy, has lots of interesting new books available, a selection of newspapers, and it’s a community. Which really matters! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
