@owenbooth.bsky.social Nice one, Owen, very nice indeed! #AmReading www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

the funniest thing you'll read today. and given the state of the world, make some time for funny things. (h/t to Sai from the fated mates discord for finding this one.) electricliterature.com/is-the-book-...

Separate to seperate. Just to punish my chemistry teacher who made me write it out 100 times when I was eleven :(

Not one member of my large extended family reads or appreciates #romance (or so they say), so this article is for them :) ♥️ “Romance writers are some of the smartest people in the industry." As for the skeptics? “The water’s fine,” says Milan. “Come on in.” lithub.com/enemies-to-l...

ICYMI: I built a starter pack of classic romances that goes all the way back to the 1950s. Selected to show the genre’s breadth, not simply to hit familiar highlights. It’s a lot of hidden gems, and I’ve probably left off at least one of your faves (gift link). #RomanceColumn #Romancelandia

Where can you get Tudor Gothic, Women's apocalyptic writing, monster-f**king, deadly dance, folklore and landscape, doppelgangers, horror theatre, grave-diggers, horror-making on a budget, Poe and Mesmerism, Gothic tourism and more all in one place? romancingthegothic.com/2025/01/20/g...

In my first Margery Sharp book, she hooked me with sentence one. In my second, Stone of Chastity, it took until the top of page two. And got better after that. Staggering to think this book has been unpublished for 3/4 of a century until rescued/resurrected by @deanstpress.bsky.social

Friends, this GoFundMe is, unfortunately, legit. Can’t talk about it now, but I’m sure posts about the absurdity of life are to come. Please share if you can. #EatonFire

Happy new year, fuckers! It's time for the Tuckers! …with your host @benzimmer.bsky.social stronglang.wordpress.com/2024/12/31/t...

New blog post! The Editor's Brain. This is how mine works, and why I'm not scared of AI. geckoedit.com/the-editors-... #AmEditing #LanguageEvolves

since it is Muppet Christmas Carol time, let us revisit this wonderful interview with Michael Caine, who loves it as much as the rest of us “People say to me, Have you ever sung? I say, Yes, I sang in a movie. They say, Who with? I say, Kermit the Frog.”

Today's blog is all about the green flags you should look for when hiring an editor, and it's a longer post than usual - definitely one to be bookmarked if you're planning to hire an editor soon! #writingcommunity

Some good advice here for historical fiction writers. #writing

I emailed [email protected] directly to summarise my thoughts on the bullshit consultation with its bullshit proposal. tl;dr: Why is this consultation loaded towards "the law shouldn't apply to scammy tech bros"?

If you’re a creator or work in the creative industries or otherwise have a heart, then please add your voice to this UK Gov consultation on AI and Copyright. I said ‘freelance’ for company and ‘unsure’ for super-granular legal stuff but made my voice heard. You can too. www.gov.uk/government/c...

Not my usual fare, but it was on a stack of books in the bathroom🤷‍♀️ I liked the unnamed hero and his dry, rather cynical pragmaticism (and the mercifully short chapters). The author employs a weirdly whimsical approach to metaphor and simile. My favourite: He was as calm as a Camembert 🤔 #AmReading

Reacting to @kokedit.bsky.social post about the dangers of sitting still for too long, I got one of those clever apps that tell you to 'Move' every hour. Entirely redundant, of course, as I've already got the canine equivalent. Usually, when I've just got my head in the zone... Grrrrr. #AmEditing

Another #buyastrangerabook offer! @helenmew.bsky.social is offering to buy someone the book of their choice up to £12. Helen would love it to go to a stressed parent, or someone who'd like a read to escape from *all the things*. So, if there's something you'd like, get in touch. (UK only)
