🧶💬 I've had well meaning folks show me this, esp since I make tutorials + accessible models and wanted to share my thoughts while also discussing an underlying issue in the larger creative sphere. Disclaimer: IDK kaia personally, I just use the program a LOT lol (+)

Every. year.

Therapist: What do we say to people to let them know we’re welcoming them into our lives? Me: What good is it to me that you're here now? Where where you twenty years ago, ten years ago? How dare you, how dare you come to me now, when I am this? Therapist: No.

This commission statement refers to people with Autism, ADHD, asthma, auto-immune disease, and chronic illness as a “dire threat to the American people and our way of life”. This is a manifesto against disability. This is the language of eugenics.

When ordered by Nazis to give lists of disabled people by disability severity, some doctors sent back exaggerated data to protect patients from forced work They didn't know that the "most disabled" were to be killed first The moral here isn't to tell the truth It's to never co-operate with Nazis

If you are in danger unless you comply with a regime, you are in danger whether you comply or not

Gonna need more non-disabled people to see stuff like this and understand that ableism is also one of the integral -isms the right is devoted to, so it should be jettisoned whenever and in whomever you encounter it

Not sure why we’re assuming that gutting disability programs is an accident but I guarantee you this wasn’t a whoopsie of language use, it was a very intentional attack on the disabled.

exhausting as liberal democracy is, I feel it is vital for us queer and trans people to fight for its survival because it is also the system of government that tends to be least interested in killing us by a very wide margin

keep in mind that they didn't just say fuck disabled people (which should be enough, but). they also said fuck rural communities. shout it to the rooftops, folks

Living in a more rural area with a lower cost of living means I can do comics and art full-time. It also means I'm very reliant on the post office to receive stuff I can't purchase locally. Not only would Trump's plans make it untenable to live here, it would also kill MY business - Patreon, etc.

Update: The White House is already backing down on this. Keep calling your reps. Keep pressuring them. Along with your reps, the white house phone number is (202) 456-1111. Use 5calls.org to get all your reps in one place along with a guide. www.nysun.com/article/whit...

Our Seattle event got some great articles written about it, so proud of my community for being loud and visible in our fight to protect everyone targeted by fascism www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

Between the "don't complain about money if you choose to be an artist, get a real job instead" people and the "you sold your soul in trying to make art into a career, selling art is the downfall of all creativity" people I swear artists can't win

And we got finger-wagged by a New England journo "expert" for not staying in our lane and sticking to our knitting (his words) and leaving hard stuff to (paywalled) NYT and Wapo. So we were right, and we did the right thing, and we didn't need anyone's permission to make our own news decisions.

This is not normal. (Please do not jump in my mentions saying that nothing is normal now--work your focus muscles.) My point is that the sign is culturally abnormal. Normal people look at it and think, "Cringe."

I'm not reblogging this for a pile-on because I'm sure you have the best intentions, but I need for everyone to understand something very important. The lives of transpeople are worth fighting for with sledgehammers.

From my guest lecture last week.

Queer Palestinian singer Bashar Murad for Vogue Japan. He wears an "Intifada Obi", which includes embroideries made by Gazan refugee women, supported by a collective that preserve Palestinian embroidery in kimono designs. My favorite songs from him are "Mashkara" and "Antenne". 📷: Hiroshi Asakura

The National Park Service just took down Marsha P. Johnson's page. www.nps.gov/people/marsh...

If we can't sleep peacefully, they don't get to sleep peacefully. Don't call your republican reps because you think you can convince them. Call them because fuck them, they don't get a free pass on this shit.

kaine deserves true love in the form of a handsome boyfriend who will let her rawdog him, she's worth it yanno

Stop calling these acts of deliberate malicious destruction mistakes — if you close your eyes and fire machine gun spray ceaselessly into a crowd claiming you just want to scare some of them off, it’s not a mistake that there are casualties.

Trump wants to slash your Social Security while he LITERALLY spends $11 million in our tax dollars playing golf in first month of his second term.

It's been a little over a year that @yabigsistah.bsky.social and I have been housed. A year later, our financial state unfortunately has returned to what it was before we became homeless. Donations and shares are greatly appreciated. Goal: $1800 Deadline: 03/05/25 ⬇️Donation links below⬇️

I know we're all just thinking aloud here, going through it, feeling our feelings, but every fourth or fifth post used amount to "leave [state] before you die" and now it's "flee the country before you die," and it's like People live here 🙂 They can't leave 🙂 They have no money 🙂 Is that news?

Sobs they're so cute ♡

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

Today is the #DayOfRemembrance commemorating Executive Order 9066 and the government's mass incarceration of Japanese Americans during WWII. Eight years ago, I wrote about visiting Manzanar, what life was like in the camp, and how the National Park Service plays a role in teaching civil rights.

There’s an active fascist takeover going on. Let’s check in with the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary committee to see how they’re resisting it. Oh… oh I see. They’re trying to blow up Section 230 and open the floodgates for Trump to censor the Internet. Inspiring!

"Stop romanticizing toxic tropes in fiction" Bro literally never heard of 'Romanticism' (1790 - c. 1850) and how it's a deliberate rejection of order, harmony, balance, and rationality and celebrates the irrational, personal, emotional, weird, occult, and monstrous by design, how embarrassing 😞

Pulling together some shots from #SaveOurServices protests and selfies!

Eyyy BLACK FLAME lands on another most-anticipated of 2025 list! www.trenzle.com/8-most-antic...

The reason villains are typically more interesting than heroes in fiction is very simple. Heroes in most mainstream American art obey the law and uphold the status quo. If you want more interesting good guys, you need to start writing heroes who blow up pipelines and kill ICE agents.

1. Good news: Multiple hospitals are resuming trans care under 19 years old after Trump's trans ban was blocked temporarily in court. Writer Mira Lazine reports on hospitals in Arizona, Michigan, and Virginia restarting care. Not all hospitals have, though. Subscribe to support our journalism.

I strongly encourage readers of indie queer and especially trans books to start using itchio as more of us authors move away from Amazon. Authors get a bigger cut, you can tip, and, most importantly, you will actually own your ebooks instead of just licensing them from Amazon.

hey for anyone who might want to actually own their kindle books instead of renting them, or who might be thinking of switching to kobo etc and will want to convert them to epubs, you now only have one week before amazon kills your ability to download its ebooks www.theverge.com/news/612898/...

This from Boris Johnson, attacking Donald Trump's critics for daring to suggest that the President of the United States shouldn't outright lie to us, tells us everything we need to know about him

The problem is ultimately that our political class is composed exclusively of people who are insulated by personal wealth from the looming recession

I may buy a guy because of this. Like hell this demented bastard will send me to a fucking labor camp. I'll die in my goddamn house first.

RFK's not-so-veiled threat to take mental health drugs away is even worse than it looks at first blush. He wants to replace these medications with labor camps. This fits with the larger, eugenics-informed Trump/Musk agenda. www.salon.com/2025/02/19/r...

not feeling great right now about American plane travel being the only way my girlfriend and I can see each other 😬

the only way forward for video games is self-published games made by properly-organised studios corporate ownership will fire all of you in the end.
