We also aren’t talking about removing DEI without any pressure to remove Legacy admissions and workplace nepotism.

But people give misogyny a pass because the people most affected by misogynistic men are their partners & we pretend the personal isn't political. Misogyny & mistreating partners is just a character flaw, not a canary in the coal mine of a bigot's ideology.

And this isn't to suggest that liberal/left men can't be misogynists. Of course they can & many are. But it's not remotely surprising when they're exposed as also being white supremacist, ableist, transphobic, or some other right-wing value because bigots embrace hierarchies.

So it isn't surprising that people like Trump & Musk are right-wing & that their values aren't rejected by the people who weaponize "traditional values" to hurt others. Misogyny binds women, not men. And it was always there.

We keep seeing this over & over bc misogyny isn't a deal-breaker. Misogynists exposed for SA & DV embrace the right not just bc the right accepts & celebrates that violent enforcement but also bc their other bigotries are free to be unleashed too. Bigots rarely limit themselves.

After reading Musk's 1st wife's article I knew he was an abusive misogynist. Everything about Musk since that article has been, "yeah that tracks." It isn't surprising when men who believe women are inferior embrace other hierarchal oppression, like labor exploitation or nazism.

I was neutral on Musk. Buying into an electric car company didn't necessarily signal leftist values to me. Plenty of people seemingly embracing a left position turn out RW, like the crunchy hippies to anti-vaxxers.

I don't remember Trump ever being beloved. As long as I've been aware of his existence he's been viewed as sleazy, tacky, creepy, & misogynistic. But maybe that's a reflection of the people around me. His values certainly weren't representative of my family's.

Trump didn't claim to be a Dem because he has liberal values. He's an opportunist who likes being invited to parties. He wanted to be accepted by NY rich & celebrities. Conservatives are dull. Same for Musk, which is why he dated celebrities & begs on here to be considered cool.

And if their lifestyles & values weren't in line with right-wing ideology, they wouldn't be worshipped by right-wingers. It's why Trump & Musk are pretending to be christians but don't have to pretend to respect women or value "traditional families."

If people cared about the misogyny, they wouldn't be "surprised" when men openly embrace the right. I don't care how people claim to vote or even where they claim to fall politically. I look at their values. This is who they've always been.

I often see similar said about Musk - everyone loved Musk before he went MAGA. Conservatives are currently running with that same line in response to ridicule over their "traditional values" being led by men with numerous baby mamas.

Men don't consider misogyny a deal-breaker so they ignore that canary in the coal mine.

I define being a better person by extending solidarity to the marginalized & trying to help them feel validated, empowered, & protected. I'm not doing that by accepting bigots & apologist narratives. I'd actively be hurting those most vulnerable & helping the bigots hurt them.

Some MAGAts are experiencing ricochet off the armadillo but I'm not going to cry over someone who was trying to shoot an armadillo. That isn't "mean," but there is a lack of kindness from those who are more concerned with the face than the hunted armadillos.

I have no interest in interacting with MAGAts at all. I'm also disinterested in pretending their values aren't what they are & always have been. And I will not performatively grieve their attempts to hurt others when they ricochet & hurt themselves too.

The demands to not be "mean" to MAGAts is an attempt to bulldoze boundaries, whitewash their behavior, & rehabilitate their reputations. (Largely so people who never ostracized them don't have to feel bad about their associations.)

I didn't watch that show but glad there was abortion representation.

Jack Posobiec is a literal neo-Nazi. He has tweeted "14/88" memes at least five times.
14/88 refers to "14 Words", a popular slogan by the late neo-Nazi terrorist leader David Lane, and the "88" means "Heil H*tler" ('H' is the 8th letter of the alphabet).
These tweets can be authenticated.

Dems could focus on mail-in ballots. That seemed to help Biden. The Overton will keep chugging right because people think conservatives are just misunderstood fiscally anxious secret liberals.

There is a huge segment that doesn't vote. We could make voting easier. We could appeal to the left. But I guess we'll just set the Overton window on fire & see how much worse MAGA gets.

The absolute refusal to believe these people's clearly stated values while constantly trying to give them alibis & whitewash their bigotry is precisely why we're here now. They told us over & over who they were & we kept being told calm down, they just have economic angst.

What do you think welcoming nazis does? How do you think you're going to gain any of that by rehabilitating & prioritizing bigots who not only support none of it but want to destroy what crumbs we have to ensure marginalized people suffer more? When will y'all believe nazis' demonstrated values?

I'm tired of being told "don't make bullies mad or... they'll continue doing what they're doing." Excusing them & scolding those who called out their harm has taken us from Teaparty to MAGA with the constant dream of cuddling with bigots someday. At the expense of the most vulnerable.
