AOC: The order has come down to this committee. Find $880 billion to pay for a tax cuts on yachts, jets, billionaires, and mega corporations while working class people pay higher tax rates than Facebook does. Undocumented immigrants pay more in taxes than many large corporations

Jury selection just wrapped in the Energy Transfer v. Greenpeace trial. By my count: 7 of 11 of the jurors have ties to the fossil fuel industry. 3 work at fossil fuel companies 3 have husbands with industry ties 1 has mineral rights I'll be here all month covering the trial for Drilled.

United States Attorneys are not "President Trumps' Lawyers" They work for the American people.

A new report from the Brattle Group shows that eliminating IRA's clean-energy tax credits would increase generation costs, eliminate jobs, & slow US economic growth. Importantly, this report was commissioned by ConservAmerica, a *conservative group*. conservamerica.org/wp-content/u...

#MakeBigotsFamous #MakeFacistsFamous Now: Outed ICE Nazi troll #JamesRodden.

The DOGE firings have nothing to do with “efficiency” or “cutting waste.” They’re a direct push to weaken federal agencies perceived as liberal. This was evident from the start, and now the data confirms it: targeted agencies overwhelmingly those seen as more left-leaning. 🧵⬇️

I will keep repeating this for the next 5 weeks: Elon Musk wants to buy the Wisconsin State Supreme Court via the upcoming election on April 1st. The time to lock-in on this race - via donations and organization - and elect @crawfordforwi.bsky.social is right now. www.politico.com/news/2025/02...

I've read most of the analyses of the DOGE 2025 "receipts" site. This, from NPR, is the best I've read so far. Some of what they claim to have cut haven't been cut, other "cuts" will incur costs down the road. NPR says DOGE has made $2B of cuts, not $55B. www.npr.org/2025/02/19/n...

Homs, the cradle of the revolution, now exemplifies the biggest challenges in post-Assad Syria: crime is rampant; dozens of people have been targeted in sectarian revenge attacks; and the economic situation is increasingly desperate. www.economist.com/middle-east-...

Wow: City of Clarksdale, Mississippi got a court order yesterday directing a newspaper to delete an editorial criticizing city officials -- without a hearing. Here's the TRO issuing the prior restraint:

I'm sorry, but what the actual f*ck?

If you live in New York State and think Gov. Kathy Hochul should remove the corrupt mayor of NYC, give her a call or send her a letter.

If McConnell did not have a personal connection to this issue, he would have voted along with the rest of the republicans. Glad he can vote his conscience while the right has weaponized any personal issue the left brings forward

This is absolutely insane. Musk’s DOGE crew just straight up *took* $80 million from an NYC bank account!

Remember Elon Musk, Peter Thiel and David Sacks are a bunch of South African racists trying to recreate apartheid in America. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

👀 DOJ acknowledges making two significant errors during a court hearing last week on efforts to dismantle USAID 1) It said only 500 employees had been placed on leave. Actual number was 2,140. 2) Said only future contracts were stopped. Existing contracts were also stopped.

This seems really significant. The Judge will want to know how the error occurred and who fed the lawyers inaccurate information. Government lawyers are trained to make sure their representations to the court on material matters are truthful and accurate. Judge Kelley is unlikely to be pleased.

UPDATE: The Vice President wants the racist DOGE staffer reinstated 👇🏽 One of his comments was “normalize Indian hate” (Vance’s wife is Indian-American) www.huffpost.com/entry/doge-s...

FLASHBACK: “The Palestinians are not a real estate deal, Donald.” From the lips of his own Secretary of State

What a historical moment. Today, the world learned the identity of Caesar, the defector who smuggled 53,275 photos of detainees tortured & killed by the Syrian regime: Farid al-Mathhan, formerly of the Forensic Evidence Dept of the Damascus Military Police. He is originally from Daraa.

Far-right propagandist Christopher Rufo is inside the Department of Education headquarters and said to far-right operative Mike Benz that it “needs to be razed to the ground”:

1/ ❗Really chilling. Thanks to Sen. Mark Warner, for releasing Memo from acting deputy attorney general Emil Bove to FBI leadership ordering the purge. -Memo is a clear abuse of power and weaponization of DOJ -Memo bolsters FBI lawsuits filed today. VERY clear the list is for retaliatory purposes

Exactly right: Trump gave Bibi a political lifeline. "He can return to Israel with a plan, no matter how unfeasible or unrealistic, that he can dangle in front of his far-right coalition partners on whom his political future hinges." www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

REP. RASKIN: “We don’t have a 4th branch of government called Elon Musk.” 🇺🇸

Heads up, NYC!

Of Trump’s January 6th pardons, “NPR has identified dozens of defendants with prior convictions or pending charges for crimes including rape, sexual abuse of a minor, domestic violence, manslaughter, production of child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking.” www.npr.org/2025/01/30/n...

How you know it’s a Trump administration: “That’s my read of the tweet - I can’t believe I’m saying that.”

1/ Lost in the chaos of Trump’s second term: SCOTUS is taking a case that could let religious charter schools drain public education funds. Oklahoma’s St. Isidore school—run by Catholic dioceses—wants taxpayer money without following anti-discrimination laws. rewirenewsgroup.com/2025/01/29/s...

The federal government's new top HR attorney has said "Consent is probably modern society’s most pernicious fetish" and "Slaves owe us reparations," according to a new report from @pogo.org. www.pogo.org/investigatio...

@angryblacklady.bsky.social can you follow so I can DM?

🚨What the hell is going on? 🧵 Another PUERTO RICAN family detained, a man tells Telemundo his sister, her mother in law, & a child were taken by ICE in Milwaukee & driven to facility where his sister explained they’re US CITIZENS. ICE response to this flagrant violation? “Sorry”

So this is the lawsuit I may have to join. Someone please coax out of Rufo the particular cabinet members who are making lists of women and racial minorities who will targeted for firing.

well this is fucked: i was just looking on youtube for a version of the musk nazi salute and came across this version from nbc chicago that edited it out.

It’s going to take months to sort through all of the stunning, crazy things Trump’s first batch of Executive Orders is attempting to do. But this little nugget from the pro-death penalty EP is … quite a thing unto itself: www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

A point that's often overlooked re: Gaza reconstruction. Other countries in the region need enormous amounts of aid too. Donors have limited resources. And for many would-be donors, the prospect of investing in Syria and Lebanon will be much more attractive than a Hamas-run Gaza.

Holy shit. When I was an attorney at the Innocence Project *more than two decades ago*, I couldn’t believe how long this guy on death row had already been fighting to get post-conviction DNA testing in his case. Shame on every prosecutor who resisted this. www.tampabay.com/news/crime/2...

Here is a statement by my colleague Katherine Franke about the end of her time teaching at Columbia. Please read it. drive.google.com/file/d/1i4cO...

Wow, just heard that Columbia has forced out one of my fave profs from law school for the offense of being pro students, pro Palestine, and anti genocide This sucks! At least now with this BS behind her, she says she can refocus her efforts on fighting for Palestine ccrjustice.org/home/press-c...
