The choreography when it’s busy, plus no one looks at you funny if you’re cycling, unlike, say, in the London Borough of Sutton.

Do the antis see problems with the likes of this ? The service road is now also cycleway 29. If no, the solution is to put a service road behind every floating stop. If that means narrowing the main carriageway 🤷

The reason is that Kingston hss a consultation ongoing on what cycling improvements are required in the borough, but without the LCC breakdown, I can’t explain what’s required for better conditions for women on C31 at night.

Not meant to be. However, I *was* annoyed by the report - why not provide specific practical solutions for *all * the individual cases in the report - not the few case studies..

Thanks. That’s what I assumed, but not being "top rated bad" the report doesn’t go into detail for it - wrongly in my view - readers need to know the specific problems in their bad routes so they can advocate relevant improvements.
I use it maybe once a fortnight in daylight & not had problems

OTOH Jon Stone’s compilation of riders in the City-Hackney area on Xitter today showed only about 1 in 4 users are women in broad daylight on partly protected roads - are the stats for the night routes any worse?

Well yes, I can see the problems with a lot of the flagged routes - it was the New Malden one (C31) that was puzzling me since it ticks most boxes but @peternotyoung.bsky.social says it has dodgy characters at night. It would have been nice to have the reasoning for all the routes in the report.

Thanks for that - I was wondering if that was the case.

Alarming that what is standard unbundling/grade separation elsewhere and produces some more direct routes than is possible by just following the carriageways, is not acceptable at night in London.

Yep, it’s indiscriminate car *usage* that’s the problem, but for clarification - I didn’t quite understand “side-streets… where traffic flow is too high etc”. Did you mean residential streets being used as rat runs, and you were being diplomatic?

Here it is in the middle of my route from Abingdon to Oxford!
In the video I show the improvements which are due to happen. Includes maps!
