February's socks: Best Foot Forward from Knit Socks! in West Yorkshire Spinners Bo Peep - Starburst.

Bought two cardamom buns from Buns From Home on Embankment. The size difference feels like a bit a swizz.

Inside No 9: Stage Fright was really good. Very funny, nice jump scares and illusions. What a treat!

Another lino cut. Can't crack the inking - this is the best of a run of four.

Brand new on Dirty Feed: the secret behind Drop the Dead Donkey, and its amazing title sequence. Well, the kind of secret which was broadcast on national television to an audience of millions, but go with me on this one. www.dirtyfeed.org/2025/02/in-p...

First go at needle felting. What a satisfyingly do-able craft.

Doctor Zhivago is on BBC2 right now. Kenneth Williams, 1st January 1981:

Saw Three Sisters at The Sam Wanamaker this afternoon. Not a play I know but I really enjoyed it. It was a very accessible translation.

I have dozens of #DoctorWho art prints for sale. Take a look if that's your thing! 🙂 www.ebay.co.uk/usr/scotgra-57

Nick Helm's in this week's Father Brown! Sort of squawked with surprise when I saw him.

Saw #GhostStories this afternoon after wanting to see it for y-e-a-r-s. Loved it! Should pair nicely with the Inside No.9 stage show at the end of the month. February is looking spooky. 👻

Further attempts at lino cutting. Top two are over-inked but pretty happy with the bottom two. Birthday card for a crafting friend who will forgive the deficiencies.

Finished the Musselburgh reversible hat. Bit short when you turn up the brim - but might be able to block it longer. It's very warm to wear.

Always lovely to get something exciting in the post. Today it's a copy of Picnic on Craggy Island - just in time for the weekend. Thanks @lissakevans.bsky.social

What I love about Pepys is you can read all of his stuff in the voice of Frankie Howerd.

love the implication that until now this guy has been untroubled by emotional and psychological difficulties

Bloody hell - I cannot roll my eyes hard enough. Dirk and I would not have got on. (From Kate Summerscale's The Peepshow.)

Liz Truss is stalking Trump again.

Ooh, hurray! I started reading this last night. Excellent timing on my part. Have found every one of Kate Summerscale's books excellent. The end of The Wicked Boy made me cry on a crowded bus - it was beautiful.

These have arrived! - the finished, hardback copies of a little book I've written about the joyfully unpredictable experience of producing Father Ted. Publication is Feb 20th but I'd like to give away two copies early - RT by Saturday 6pm and my dog Watson will pick the winners.

Spent the evening at an applique class. Some accidental bleach stains hidden with skulls. 💀

Aww, Tony Slattery has gone. He was one of my idols as a teenager. Absolutely adored him. He replied to something I said on Twitter once a few years back and I was utterly thrilled.

Eleven glorious years for this advert in the shopping centre's ladies loo. The shopping centre is being demolished- I'm going to miss being mildly obsessed with this poster's longevity.

Well, time once again to trot out the story of the guy in my school who got caught using some primitive translation software to cheat on his French homework after turning in 500 words discussing the rise of "Jean Marie Le-Stylo"
