Walter Cronkite: “We can be certain that the first target of the demagogues is to destroy the effectiveness of the free press that prevents them from doing their dirty deeds in the dark corners that they would prefer.”

Signalgate was a gift. Press on. Don't blow it. They would never give an inch.

So where's Chuck Schumer and his brilliant leadership?

True story: Donald Trump's childhood home in Queens was worth $782k in 2008. In December 2016, it sold for $1.4 million. In 2017, it sold for $2.14 million - turned into a $815/night Airbnb targeting Chinese tourists. It just sold for $835k - and has been vacant, overrun by feral cats.

Fuck the Republicans.

Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest should concern everyone who believes in free speech.

I’m tired of winning.

I think there is going to be a Red Rural Recession and soon if all the cuts continue as is All the firings, cancelling of grants and contracts with companies , the closing of offices, disproportionately impact small towns, cities and states. Their finances will be turned upside

Hey, remember how everyone pretended to freak out about socialism when Kamala Harris proposed food price controls?

Actually, America has historically been a refuge for all kinds of ruckus causers — including all of my Irish and Italian ancestors. Bring the ruckus. Ruckus makes America great

Our entire national security leadership team is a national security risk. That seems bad. Is it bad?

Heartbreaking and completely unnecessary. Way to go MAGA.

More of this. Constantly. Every chance we have, more of this.

Today's Racine County Journal-Times front page

No matter your station in life, there is astoundingly little separating you from those men in that cage behind Kristi Noem. No charges, no attorneys, no hearings, no trial. Just conjecture and brute force could be enough to justify completely dehumanizing you, too.

If, in fact, the information in the Signal chat isn't classified in this administration it seems to me that's a huge story--why wouldn't these sorts of details that are traditionally classified not be? Do we have a larger problem with how sensitive national security is being handled?

Are we great again yet?

The Wall Street Journal reported late on Thursday that the information shared by Waltz was supplied by a human source working for Israeli intelligence, and that Israeli officials complained privately to US officials that Waltz’s texts became public. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

These fucking people, man…

IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE COURAGE

BREAKING: A federal judge in Washington state, overseeing Shilling v. U.S., just blocked the anti-trans military ban nationwide.

The courts are buying us time. We must, we must, we must mobilize the public. We have to reach the people who are not on BlueSky. It is our only chance.

"As a hotelier, President Trump brings to the White House a unique understanding of our industry’s business model and the challenges our members face daily." - American Hotel & Lodging Association President Rosanna Maietta, January 20, 2025. Whoopsie! www.ahla.com/news/ahla-co...

It’s worth pointing out that if any of the law enforcement agents behind Pam Bondi in this press conference had texted a buddy on Signal, “US F-18s are hitting the Houthis at 1:45 pm” they would be fired and prosecuted. Zero doubt. Zero second chances.

Anti police brutality protesters are domestic terrorists. Anti war protesters fighting for the lives of Palestinian children are terrorists. Convicted January 6th insurrectionists are fully pardoned and called patriots. You see this, right? Sign no protest petitions. Leave your phones at home.

Elon is buying VOTES IN WISCONSIN. Gave one voter $1 million to sign his petition and is doing another one for $1 million tomorrow 😡😡😡 This is not publishers clearing house asshole !

When scholars of authoritarianism and fascism leave U.S. universities because of the deteriorating political situation here, we should really worry.

“‘It is safe to say that anybody in uniform would be court-martialed for this,’ a defense official told CNN. ‘My most junior analysts know not to do this.’”

A major law firm now PREEMPTIVELY bending the knee. Pathetic and shameful; puts every other firm - and the rest of our democracy - even more at risk.

“Asked whether she believes other professors might be encouraged to leave the United States, Shore wrote that she believes many of her colleagues will consider relocating due to the current political climate, which she deemed an ‘American descent into fascism.’”

Do NOT drop this story. Keep hitting it hard. They could have killed our pilots.

Really feel like I’m losing my mind: government OBVIOUSLY cannot punish an individual law firm for hiring someone it disfavors! It’s ludicrously unconstitutional and I feel like without a day of law school I could argue the case. And yet the best paid lawyers in the country are folding?

It's completely understandable. Many more of us would if we had the option.

I can’t stop thinking about the fact that Jason Stanley and Timothy Snyder, the nation’s foremost academics and authors on fascism and tyranny, have essentially fled the country.

"The Trump administration is currently engaged in the first phase of an aggressive terror campaign to undermine the First Amendment. "They're bullying news outlets and law firms and public figures into bending the knee and refraining from criticism, which will pave the way for harsher crackdowns."

Whereas some people feel this is a result of political pressure, there’s a big part of me who believes this is merely permission to do what these institutions have always wanted to do anyway.

This is why *zero* Democratic senators should ever vote to confirm *any* of Trump’s nominees. Even the ones who may have previously seemed “reasonable” and qualified have been twisted by the unconstitutional corruption that is destroying our country.

Trump is now arresting Putin's opponents in the U.S. and sending them back to Russia so Putin can imprison or kill them.

"Creating a ruckus" is his euphemism for wrote an op-ed in a newspaper. The Constitution protects all people under U.S. jurisdiction (not just citizens) from government actions penalizing them for speech, use of the free press, or peaceful assembly.

This is fine. Everything's fine.

Sounds like he’s green lighting the deportation of anyone that participates in a peaceful protest if one person not associated with that protest vandalizes something.

So let’s be clear: in the United States today you can be grabbed in the middle of the street by masked unidentified men and bundled into a van and taken away to God knows where, all because you wrote something that upset the government. That is the United States of America in March 2025.

Mother of God

The Trump Admin wants to undo mercury protections—and their big plan? Let polluters off the hook with an email. These plants are mostly near Black, brown & low-income communities. We know who pays the price. Our health is NOT up for negotiation. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/27/c...

Carney: "I respect Trump's goal to support American workers. But I disagree with him that this is how to help. With time, it will become apparently that these actions will end up hurting American workers and American consumers ... our response to these latest tariffs is to fight."

Pam Bondi is no prosecutor. Just another Trump performer. Obviously this was classified info. Obviously there should be an investigation.

I've been doing some reading on the creation of the DOJ and there's a constant theme in these books about how the Attorney General is "the People's lawyer" and not some partisan tool of the president ...

"As the Acting Ulster County Clerk, I hold my responsibilities and the oath I have taken in the highest regard." ... so unlike #Paxton who goes well beyond the scope of his authority and whose oath of office is kept hidden under a door mat.
