Bible thumpers forgetting there are words in there, thinking it’s only for thumping.

Yes, I mostly agree with you.
I hope we remember to discuss this next time we’re in person because I have some… Counter examples… that I think would be interesting to discuss with you.

I want to preface with I recognize that I’m splitting hairs here, I just think splitting hairs is fun:
I know too many rich and miserable people to think there’s nothing to the phrase, but the idea that money isn’t useful in being happier is very dumb (does anyone actually believe that?)

To this day it’s a bit dangerous to start any sentence with “this is” around my high school friends. Whatever point you may have wanted to make will now be subsumed by everyone shouting the rest of the opening lines.

Unfortunately, using “cognitive load” correctly requires too much cognitive load, and is therefore not possible.

Also, closer to home: my dad and a bunch of his friends (Trump voters) all said “It makes sense”, ”I wouldn’t do it, but I get it”, etc.

Have you seen the Ben Shapiro fans?
It’s definitely more than just lefty folks.

Yeah, exactly. Democrats _are_ out of touch in many ways. Republicans are good at tapping into things in a way that makes them (Republicans) seem in touch.

Whether he is or isn’t doesn’t really matter. A lot of his base live him because “he’s not an elite”!
This isn’t new. Bush 2 was seen as an outsider by many, despite being the son of a president and governor of a state!

And do you keep the brick itself at home (if you commute) or just in a room other than where you tend to work (if you work at home)?

A lot of people genuinely think that Trump is “for the people”. Seems completely consistent to me.
