"Hochul is dithering about whether to use her powers. AOC, in contrast, exercised her 1st Amendment rights to inform her constituents about their 4th Amendment rights. In doing so, she showed that the administration is tyrannical. She also showed that it’s weak — if you’re willing to confront it."

Can’t say I blame him. Canada played their hearts out tonight.

Earlier today, Donald Trump called himself a king. So it’s a good time to repost this. Join me, remind that asswipe that we don’t have kings in America.👇

Whatever else emerges in time about the Delta crash in Canada, one thing is certain: the importance & amazing professionalism of flight attendants who safely evacuated the plane in a matter of seconds.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

Tesla's stock is ridiculously overvalued, and even a modest consumer boycott could tank the company, which accounts for the majority of Elon Musk's wealth. The divestment movement weakened apartheid South Africa. Let's do that again. slate.com/business/202...

Right on! @debhaalandnm.bsky.social

KY GOV. BESHEAR: “If they eliminated the Department of Education and its funding, that’s half a billion dollars in meals for kids that otherwise might go hungry.”

vance is lying and knows he’s lying but even if he weren’t, “separation of powers means the president is an elected despot” may be true in some other political system but it has never been true in the american political system

Been saying. Who is gonna believe the jobs reports from Musk’s White House?

And them doing that is good! I have seen a lot of people online who seem to be convinced that the Democrats could lose Congress but also have the power to stop Congress from doing stuff. Largely, they can't.

DOGE operative Marko Elez got the ability to alter US Treasury payment system code on Feb 1, WIRED's sources say. For days, Trump officials fed members of Congress and the press a different story. Elez is out now for posts reading "I was racist before it was cool" and "normalize Indian hate."

I understand some of the criticism of how some Democrats are messaging in these pressers and rallies--low energy, awkward, etc--but I personally think it's great there's effort now being made. I don't need it to be outstanding right now. I just need to see something. Let's keep it up, Dems.

So this is how this DOJ will operate. Actions and beliefs are deemed CRIMINAL if they are not in line with this Administration’s beliefs and platform. There is no criminal penalty for supporting or even continuing to apply DEIA principles. This is a muscle job. Corporations must stiffen their spines.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

"A 25-year-old engineer tied to Elon Musk has admin privileges over the code that controls Social Security payments, tax returns, and more" www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

This.

Trump accomplished nothing with his trade war threat. He was talked down like a petulant toddler by the cooler heads of Claudia Sheinbaum and Justin Trudeau. They prioritized averting economic catastrophe above political noise and allowed Trump to think it was his idea. That's what happened.

We need a group of lawyers who are willing to take every lawsuit from every fired federal employee to the max. Bury this admin in lawsuits

Only when their money is affected will Republicans work with Democrats to change this.

Someone, who used to know better, told me today that it’s patriotic to support the president even if you don’t always agree. This is the excuse being used by many to explain their acquiescence. Actually, this is what a patriot is: www.nytimes.com/2025/02/02/u...

How is this legal? How? Why is every top Democrat not outside the Treasury right now, holding a press conference at least? Or filing a lawsuit?? I am losing my mind.

Make some noise y’all!

Musk has no authority to determine what’s illegal. Lutheran Social Services can bring a lawsuit if he cuts their payment but what legal options are there to stop him illegally making and implementing decisions and having access to these systems? Serious question.

If you’re angry that Congress is idly standing by while Trump seizes absolute authority through brazenly illegal power grabs—restructuring the entire government around his own cruel and arbitrary whims by executive decree—you should call your representatives and tell them: 202-224-3121

This amounts to the most significant data leak in cyber history. Private individuals in the data business now have access to your Social Security information. This violates privacy laws in every state. Hopefully, state AGs will file suit & pursue criminal charges. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/u...

This is essential to resistance.

The Federal Aviation Administration was using a backup system to send real-time safety alerts to pilots late Saturday because its primary one was “experiencing a temporary outage,” the Transportation Department said.

this is theft on an unimaginable scale

Several conversations today w people in the key executive departments. And while the particulars are hard to pin down my impression is that the Musk take over stuff is considerably worse than is being presented in the press. By this I don’t necessarily things they *done* yet but the level of …

So if I’m understanding today correctly, the world’s richest person Elon Musk, whom no one elected, is taking over federal payment systems and employee data while the federal employees who investigate and prosecute public corruption are being fired en masse.

"We know you’re out of power. We understand you’re in the minority. We hear that, loud and clear. What we’re not hearing is your anger. We’re not hearing your outrage. We’re wondering whether or not you actually hear us." charlotteclymer.substack.com/p/comms-advi...

If it were legal to fire you, they wouldn't put so much effort into getting you to resign voluntarily.

they are stealing data from the american people and depriving us of the transparency that we are entitled to by law. none of this is legal and not a single federal employee has any reason to comply.

I have two articles in @AtlantaMagazine this month! The first is on the problematic Gold Dust Twins ad on the last remaining Alonzo Herndon bldg on Auburn Avenue. And the other is on the owner of The Sistah Shop, the black-women focused store that went viral last fall!
