Btw wait three years for what. National earned easily the most votes in that election. I'd have put money on them to win a fifth term.

If they had done that their membership would have rioted. This was at the end of nine years of National-led governments. They could have done all sorts of things, but not supporting a Labour-led government at that time was never a serious possibility.

Former teacher here. The idea that teachers were ever not doing phonetics is a myth. It's also crazy to suggest for example that in a sentence like "He put the birthday card in an envelope." A kid should be taught to phonetics their way to decoding the word envelope, rather than just use context.

I figured it was mostly just because 2000-2009 and 2010-2019 just don't have very good names, and the twenties haven't finished yet.

Certain hunting lobby groups are very much anti conservation. Also, hunting is not conservation. E.g. does not effectively control thar. Wallabies are been deliberately seeded around the country for hunting. Similar things have happened with deer. Hunting is all good. But it's not conservation

There are sovereign states within the EU, the Scottish Parliament operates within the UK, each of the US's 50 states has three branches of government, operating within/alongside/beneath the federal govt. There are all sorts of complex arrangements.
